Is there a campaign? Or a story mode?

I am tempted to pick this game up, but is it just arena combat? Are there other modes like adventure and stuff like that?

Just Sandbox and a Survival mode. Progression is in the works, where dungeons will be a thing, with armor equips, buying gear, improved a.i with patrols etc.

Yeah no story. NPCs don't talk (unless you get mods). It's good exercise and lots of mods for the game.
