Gadget bug?

So, I don't know if this is a bug or not, but when the troopers kick you it interrupts the gadgets so if you click one at the exact right instant it acts like it has triggered - but it hasn't at all. So you get the cool-down and the energy loss, but it won't spray acid or lightning etc

Nope, this is not a bug. It works as intended :-)

The kick effect is considered a stun, so yeah, it interrupts whatever you were doing. If you happen to get past the wind-up phase (cast time) before he kicks you, the gadget will fire off. So, all in all, it's best to wait for them to kick and then blast them with whatever you have.
