Difference between steam and standalone version ?

What is the difference between the Steam & Standalone version, except the fact that the standalone version can be run without Steam.

I have the standalone. I think its much better because its literally just pinned to my taskbar and I dont have to open steam to open it. Also benefits your friends not seeing that you have it open, than you can troll with steam notification :) As far as the features go, I am pretty sure there both the same versions and everything, mine still gets updates and the same features as steam

Alright then. So the standalone version is just better. That's what I though and just wanted confirmation. Thanks !
