How do you add friends?

I cant manage to find my friends who play on steam to add. Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way, but the tutorial is completely useless and the add friends screen doesnt really help. Can some kind person explain how to add friends to a caual game?

all of this is wrong:

I would hope if you and your friend are both running the game at the same time, you would see each other there, but.... maybe it's just not implemented ;)

It's hypothetically possible that only friends set to the same Steam Download Region (Steam -> Settings -> Downloads -> Download Region) can play together. I'd find it more likely that it just doesn't work at present.

Account -> Search for player -> [their ingame name] -> green add friend "+"

As luckz already said: Profile -> Search for their name -> add friend. As soon as they befriended you,you will find them in your opponent list for casual games. This is due to the fact, that we are cross platform and you can play against your mobile friends as well. (You can even start your game on desktop and then play with the same account on your mobile/pad.) Cheers

thanks to all. I now have a group of friends playing, even if we're just muddling through trying to figure out what we're doing.

UX-wise it's a bit confusing, the game gave me the idea that it will show my Steam friends in that menu
