Male Character Sprites?
Do you plan on adding models for Male characters? I don't really mind playing as a female character, but it would be nice to have some more variety and options when creating new characters.

to make it make sense they should have a floor where you can rescue a male hero that becomes unlocked with different job classes then the female heroine.

At this time we're not working on alternate sprites for each job, as our main priority is both creating new character jobs and more animations (such as directional sprites: up, left, right, and all animations for those...)

However I know people want visual customization. We're thinking of the best way to do that without my pixel artist throwing himself out a window. :D

I hope there will be the male counterpart for each job, that would be an instant buy for me. Anyway thanks fro bringing the game on GOG!

Exactly what I wanted... call me weirdo but I don't have as much fun playing as a girl as I have when playing as a boy. Immersion.

There are two classes where it's less obvious the character is female: the paladin and the spellshaper (take a look at image 5 of the screenshots to see the classes). The paladin is your stereotypical knight-looking character (though still has long hair) and the spellshaper is a robed and hooded wizard with their face concealed in shadows.

@Rhawkas yeah, rogue and hunter also would pass... but you know, that voice in your head telling you the truth? :b
I normally play as female characters if available but I did think it was weird that female was the default and I didn't have to change. So there are no male sprites ? That's an odd decision.

funny enough thats whats holding back a few people from buying it that I know, the usually skip games if they can't play as a male character.

(for myself it doesn't really matter the sprite looks good enough and the wizard is fully suited up)

I always preferred playing a female character in these sort of 3rd person view games. I think of myself as the characters overseer rather than being the character.

First person games I always prefer to play as a male.

This is one of the few games I have played where I havent had to request to the developers that they consider making female toons. :steamhappy:

I personally liked the design choice of the dev starting with only a generic female character, as usually when there is only one generic character in these kinds of games, it is male instead. I would appreciate the variety of having a generic male sprite too (Or even something unique, like a generic animal person variant), but I can also understand why that wouldn't be a priority for his graphics guy, but it is always fun to see how an artist conceptualizes variations of the same class.

I've always seen myself as the character overseer more than the character too though, so that's probably why I don't care so much. I know people differ on this.

Same, it's super refreshing to have a game where a female lead character is the default :) It's one of the things I cite when I recommend this game to my friends!

I would not mind starting as a female also, but It's not "a generic female character". There are 9 jobs to choose, all different, all female.

Right, just like a lot of games do for male characters! Usually it's either "multiple classes, two genders" or "multiple classes, all male." I think having an inversion, where a female template is the default, is really refreshing—we very rarely see it in games.

I'm not saying it's not reasonable to want to be able to play as a guy, but for some of us the inversion of a very well-worn trope is super refreshing and I personally appreciate that the devs took that route :)
