How is it compared to ADOM, Nethack, or Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup?
I know of Mystery Dungeon, and I never could get into that series-maybe it was the controls, maybe the game looked too basic compared to it's older PC brethren.

But Tangledeep is a PC game. So,Im confused here.I like roguelikes, just not rogueLITES.Which one is it?
How are the controls and interface?
Is the gameplay as slow as it is in Mystery Dungeon?(and when I say slow,I mean unnecessarily slow animations and a lot of small waiting times between actions).
Is good old YASDs present,or can you die only due to overconfidence in combat?
How many regions/dungeons are there?
Are there quests, and how important are they?
Is there any kind of item management in a dungeon?

It's a true roguelike, and that's coming from someone that has played Adom and Nethack. Everything is randomly generated, including the loot which has attributes that are cobbled together into different enchantments and rarities much like Borderlands weapons and gear. The classes are as open as you wish them to be, either by remaining purely within a single class' abilities or by mixing and matching abilities from different classes with only a few abilities being intrinsic to each class.

Controls are very well fleshed out. I play strictly from a controller, but you can play in any way you want: keyboard and mouse, mouse only or gamepad only.

The game is very varied and there's a large patch inbound (DLC) that will add even more variety.

That said, grab the game and give it a shot. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it.

Tangledeep has multiple modes. Hardcore mode is essentially Roguelike mode.

Watch a bit of gameplay online, best way to figure out if it's something you'd enjoy.

I have only cleared to floor 3, but the super early game does seem a bit easier than ADOM. However, I have not eventured far. Controls are much less daunting compared these games.

Game is certainly more modernized, prettier, and polished than ADOM or Nethack. At least initially, the environment and tone seems much more up beat and positive.

If you looking for something more old school, try brogue, rogue or angband.

UPDATE.

Beat the game. Managed to beat it one life on permadeath, but I played extremely cautiously, grinded to max level, and have beaten all of the games mentioned.

Game was fun, but it is not nearly as difficult or the sometimes overly punishingly difficulty of ADOM or TOME. Story was fun, and you can also make the game harder. There were defintely several huge challenges along the way.

I would say the difficulty is closer to a 3 rune run on Stone Soup Crawl on some of the easier species/class combinations or Dungeons of Dredmor on normal. Would reccomend, but this isn't the type of game you will struggle with to get your first win like ADOM or TOME. I also like the tone, and themes the game touched on. The art was also spot on with better than expected writing despite a few minor cringes moments.

There are some minor animation lag, but you really shouldn't be playing many parts fast and you can move fast through cleared areas. If you play the game super fast, there may be some annoyance. There are also way points so backtracking isn't needed much. The grind is much less than TOME or ADOM. As far as managment, there is some town and pet management if you want to go that route.

It doesn't waste your time like ADOM that requires tons of wiki reading and/or replay same things millions of times.

More like TOME. Heavy combat focus but limited resource recovery.
No skill rank, but has multiclassing.
Limited passive skill slot.
