I mean, it's like Remnant in the sense it's a souls like, but not in the sense that it focuses on shooting. This is much more like Dark Souls with some extra gun stuff involved but it's nowhere as revolved around it like Remnant.

it's deifneilty hard, but a lot of that comes from janky platforming, and getting stuck in geoetry while you suffer a beat down.
ako janky camera.

but eh, I actually love this game lol, I can overlook the faults as it's an indie team, and not a AAA activision budget,

No, this is much closer to a true Souls experience than Remnant and much more cautious and slow paced. The other glaring difference is that Remnant is a polished and rewarding experience. This game has so many glitches and game breaking bugs right now that you might as well just smash your head against your desk to get the same experience without spending $35.

Dang, someone who knows Remnant but not a single Souls game.

Honestly you're better off picking up any of the Dark Souls games, if you want a better experience like Hellpoint.

Hellpoint is a decent game. But as a starting point for Souls-like games, Hellpoint might ruin the genre for you. If you have a console get BloodBorne it's more fast paced like Remnant.

Edit: Or wait for the Remasters coming! Big hype!

idk lol, this dude playd remnant for 17 hours and said it's a repeptitive slog though boring reskins of enemies in cookie cutter dungeons, other reviews say the ending comes way too quick, and the game wants you to keep replaying it ol/
screw that noise

Yeah I'm going to say hard pass on Remnant. Game used to be good before they started normalizing all the builds so there weren't any significant outliers. Then it just got boring and repetitive as ♥♥♥♥.

This game's kind of janky at the moment but I'm enjoying it. It doesn't have quite the same polish as DS but it's much closer in its playstyle. It's better than Surge 1 was at release, not as good as Surge 2, and better than Remnant IMO but on that topic they're two very different games.

The only major problem I have so far with this game is the junky camera that feels like it is lagging everytime even at 60+ fps.

Did you try reducing the camera damping? I set mine to 3 and I don't mind it.

I was just looking around to see if this game is any way near the surge and found your post.

And just have to note that i cant believe that you rate the surge 2 over the surge 1.
I couldnt even finish The Surge 2 cause i got bored half way trough it.

The surge 1 had...

Bette graphics.
Better combat system.
Better difficulty.
Better story.
Better boss fights.
Better level design.

You sir are nuts. I will give the Surge1 better environments for the end sections. I loved the tech labs and the areas after the nano got loose, but 2s combat was far superior and the bosses felt waaaaay better. I can only remember two bosses from the first game that I enjoyed and that's Black Cerb and Rogue Program. In 2 I enjoyed pretty much every boss. Story might actually go to one as well now that I think about it, but the armor in 2 is way cooler late game. I think they are both great games, but two is a slightly better experience to me than one.

Surge 2 had better graphics, but worse lighting, but in respect, it took place in a city, not a facility. Both games are on the same engine and surge 1 had flaws in some of the graphical design that surge 2 didn't.

Better combat system? Uh no? They are effectively the exact same, but surge 2 has more to offer due to more weapon variety and faster fighting pace.

Story I will agree with. Story in surge 2 was meh, minus the mouse side story.

Boss fights? Comon, fighting brother Eli was Miles better than any boss fight in surge 1.

Level design? Also a big ole negatory from me.

Both games are awesome and have their charm, but surge 2 is the better game.

I legitimately wish I could get into Surge 1. I don't remember at what point I just said ♥♥♥♥ it and stopped but something about it just didn't click with me.

It could be the lack of the parry system from 2 because that ♥♥♥♥ was absolutely fun. Could also be that I just didn't muscle through the first couple of hours. Not sure. But The Surge 2 was an absolute blast and parrying the ♥♥♥♥ out of those giant statues when you first meet them to steal their weapon was fantastic.

It's not a perfect game by a very long shot but I sincerely had a ton of fun with it and thought it was worth every penny. It always make me kind of sad to hear people saying it's not enjoyable so it's nice to see others that enjoyed it.
