How does your character get saved?
Is it a seperate save file that I could copy paste for backup? Or is it 100% cloud saved? Asking because Dark Souls has an annoying system where they don't cloud save anything, so i'm wondering how Hellpoint goes about this.

Would I be able to copy a save file later down the line for example if i want to keep a certain character layout/build? Or can you have multiple characters in the game itself?

1) Yes. You can copy your .hp file elsewhere. However, based on timestamp, the cloud might overwrite it. You may need some tweaking on the file (it's a text file) to not have it overwritten.

2) Yes. You can.

Sadly finding the save location for manual backups, is the first thing you have to do with games these days. Especially with souls like games, where lost progression can represent hours of work.
I would like to know this too.

Not entirely sure, I've asked our tech guy for more detail on that, speak soon!

Yup, it's why i'm asking. I remember playing Dark Souls 3 a lot, then I got a new computer. I assumed it had a cloud save like many other games already do. So I cleaned up my old computer (as back up) and then got onto the new one, only to realize it did not have cloud save and I lost everything.

Hello!

Your saves are stored here: [drive]:\Users\ [user] \AppData\LocalLow\Cradle Games\Hellpoint

Thank you! So I can just back them up and copy them if I ever have to, correct? Without any issues i'd imagine.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I don't think [drive]:\Users\ [user] \AppData\LocalLow\Cradle Games\Hellpoint is correct
Tried to backup and restore that entire path and it did not save anything.

[drive] is your system disk. [user] is your username. You should input your data there.

Your appdata folder is most likely hidden. Just try to look for %appdata% in the searchbar and it should pop up. If not, make sure hidden folders is turned off so they're visible.

Then just go into appdata\locallow\cradle games\hellpoint

Not about finding the right path or if it is hidden or not. The only way to make it work is to go offline in steam but that is a terrible solution. I remember other games had an option in steam preferences to synchro or not the saves, but because it does not exist for Hellpoint then the solution is offline

Why would you need to go offline? You simply need to go there and back your save files up:)

Might be worth a try - why are you not storing save files in a standard windows user folder called "Saved Games"? What are they doing in AppData/LocalLow??

Prior to Dark Souls I never even thought of it since most games have cloud save. Considering this one doesn't seem like it has, I wanted to know first.

Anyway I don't think there's a way to automate that is there? In the sense that all saved files would go to said folder. At least not that i'm aware of. I wanted to know if they store it and if so, where so I could copy paste it elsewhere.

Devs:
Would it be possible to enable Steam Cloud saves? I notice they're enabled over on GOG, so surely it must be possible here.
Honestly, a game of this caliber being released in 2020 without cloud saves is a little embarrassing.
