But here's one easy; splitscreen/online coop without ever kicking out the second player.
Off of my head I can say that weapons themselves can level up and gain new abilities.
Also not sure if there will be new game+ exactly like in most souls-likes but you can use the idols to increase or decrease difficulty.
There seems to be a decent level of customization with the nanotech as well.
I've read some reviews on the unlisted demo and the other free playable version on steam and the negatives seem to outweigh the positives by a lot lol
"The space station orbits in real time around an ominous black hole that triggers various dynamic events such as boss appearances, horde assaults as well as modified enemy stats and positions."
I haven't seen how this works, but it seems like the most interesting mechanic out of the bunch. I guess it'll add some replay value to previous areas when this black hole thing happens, seeing new bosses and enemies.
You can have up to 6 abilities (3 for left hand/3 for right hand) equipped besides having a strong, left hand, right as attacks
The level design is more closer to Metroid than dark souls, with lots of hidden secrets that give keys to previously played areas that unlock new paths.
Game flow is also more like Metroid than dark souls, where you unlock new things that help you reach different places.
Coop doesn't require embers/humanity, and can be played at anytime.
There is a bunch of other differences but its a dungeon crawler, it doesn't need to anything revolutionary. Look at how many FPS's on the market do you expect those games to be drastically different with each iteration?
but hey I'm happy for more so couldn't care less XD
If it functions properly and is fun it's a different story
wouldn't you agree that the Souls games have the level connectivity that you mentioned? Unlockable shortcuts, doors you can open with keys to unlock a shorter route to a specific spot and so on?
I'd also argue that most (good) FPS games do SOMETHING unique (and they do it well, usually) compared to their counter parts or similar games. If they don't have something unique they usually focus on getting one aspect done really well, for instance, realism.
