I think the intention of the game is not to give you all the champ info right away and let you explore. I actually liked the experience of not knowing what will come next when I was new.
I got the "ooooo, what does this button do" every time I unlocked a champion.
But sure, adding the slot info somewhere (not all the champion details) would be useful (e.g. if you are trying to fill in slots to get a core). Maybe adding the slot info in the time gates champ selection would be good (not sure, but I don't think it's there).
I didn't get analysis paralysis from seeing all the greyed-out familiars or all the available champions in the shop. However a new player might see only the first 10 characters and feel this game is too basic and quit. Maybe that is why I stopped playing almost immediately 3 years ago. I can't remember.
That fact that you don't get analysis paralysis is kind of irrelevant. I rarely suffer from it too (unless I try to play a football manager game) but that does not mean it's not there for others. It would be interesting to know how many players stop playing for thinking the game does not have enough content vs people who find it overwhelming. In the end, you cannot satisfy all.
Did you pay attention to the tutorial? I am quite sure they explain swapping and at least imply there will be bunch of new heroes available somewhere.
I think mentioning the slot in the time gate hero selection would be good (if it's not there) otherwise I personally am pretty OK with getting detailed hero info from outside the game.
But I am not trying to take away your idea. That's why this forum is here. Just providing a second opinion!
Or... did it ever... I thought it did... not sure... what do you think... no I think it did... you think it did.... yes, we think it did.... stop talking to yourself... ohw okay... you too... ok ...
I thought non-owned champions used to be grayed out.... am I mistaken here?
They may have used to but since I began last year playing they have not had silhouettes of champions.
Also kind of agree with it not being there, as can you imagine when we get to 10 champs per slot?
They'll probably need a UI change or some creative thinking to make that work and not become an eyesore.
Suggested solution (that I think shouldn't be too hard to implement technically)...
A "show event Champions that are still locked" setting, checked No by default.
So say:
Slot 1 - 3/8
Slot 2 - 5/7 etc
Underneath the arrows to swap? Maybe.
I think it has their slot number on their card somewhere. If not Kleho[idle.kleho.ru] it :)
You can use https://idle.kleho.ru/list for the time being.
I understand Russian websites don't really shine trust to everyone, but I hear nearly everyone using it and nobody complaining thus far.
