But when not at the computer for longer periods, I disable all three background parties and only let my active farm run. Even if I can only prevent one crash every so often, that's still more gain than having background parties crawl through the night.
Still, I think it's purely game related. Either there's a memory leak or there's something else creating a perfect storm. It rarely occured early in my game but kept increasing as time went by.
The problem with an active farm is that even if it only crashes once every 8 hours, when that's the first half hour of your night, all the rest of those hours count for nothing.
Not sure how high it can go before running into issues. When swapping between teams, it increases fast.
On the other hand, I've been playing Tekken 8, Starfield and other games my computer shouldn't be able to handle, and they don't crash or freeze, as long as I don't try to run them at "super uber ultra high mega" quality settings - which involve a lot of graphical artifacts I don't want to deal with anyways. Damn kids with their dograys and motion slurs!
Yes, sometimes it's the computer's fault, but from my point of view, this is not such a situation.
I ran around 1.5GB when I shut the monitor off and this morning the farm was still running consuming just around 2GB. I'm going to try again tonight and see if that does the trick or if last night was just one of those lucky ones.
To add; I just set the resolution back, quit the farm and changed to TomT and am already at 3.5GB. Setting up a second party brings it almost to 4GB. 3rd and I'm up to 4.5GB.
If it increases some more and then Windows being windows decides to run/update/check something, it might probably freeze.
From what I get the game's memory optimisation is slow/late so I installed an optimizer that will automatically free memory below a certain %. That'll do the trick I guess.
