Issue with RAM and CPU usage.
Anyone else experiencing stuttering, high RAM and CPU usage?

Sure. It's nothing new.

For me it's like "2nd day new".

Mine is fine.

I've had one crash during the last two days which is not bad considering I have it run 24hr/day.

It struggles each time after Thellora jumps during my gem farm and it needs to do too much too quickly but once done that, all is fine again.

My current stats: uptime 3 h, memory footprint 2.8 GB, processor load 12% (Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4 GHz), stuttering is relatively minor. Crashes are rare thanks to manual game restarts 3-4 times a day.

I have disabled everything non-essential in my settings. I don't know if it makes much of a difference.

You know, i check my Task manager and it shows 2 instances of the game running. is that normal? Both have different ram counts, but it's very close. Is that just the way the game works with the background parites?

Game seams fairly CPU heavy though in most regards, my cooler doesn't sound happy from time to time.

Mine shows IdleDragons.exe (2) but one is the game and the other is unitycrashhandler which doesn't use much resources (barely 1 MB mem)

Having two instances of IdleDragons.exe is NOT normal. Close the game once the new day starts, and then kill the second instance if it will still remain active.

oh, ok.. It happens to me a lot. I wonder what is going on.

My previous GPU went belly up last year apparently due to overheating caused by IC.

are you sure it wasn't a fan issue, or perhaps your heatsink needed to be cleaned with new thermal paste? GPU's need maintenance like your cpu. A game can cause things to over rev, Like some games needing gsync turned on or the can over rev, but it can also be a combo. Though sounds like at this point it's already to late.

Why can't you update the driver?

Run windows update

go to start menu, windows tools >> system information, what does the Motherboard and Bios info say?

start with that

I'm sure. Fans still worked fine, and it died again several months later with exactly the the same symptoms with fresh thermal paste applied. Dust accumulation could be partially responsible the first time it happened, but not the second time. Repairer said that capacitors were the root of the problem - they showed signs of both aging AND overheating. April and October aren't the hottest months of the year. Weather can be safely ruled out.

well that's a bummer. I'm not sure what would cause this game to race like that. Did others have the same issue? i know there have been a few games over the years that had errors/bugs that cause over heating. Vsync and capping frames till they fixed it were the work around. I want to say battletech when it first launched which is a Unity engine game, but im, not positive. I know another game a while back was having issues with one card specifically the 3080, but again i forget what game that was. Recently Fabledom was also having an issue about 6 months ago but they fixed that. Basically what i'm saying is games can do that, but it's rare, and typically its isolated to certain configs.

For future reference you can set your GPU to cap FPS globally. So no mater what you are playing it won't over rev. Sometimes it's an issue with older games, like things that came out in the 90's and you run them on a modern system and they hit like 200+ FPS or more. setting games to cap at 90/100 isn't a bad idea for those just in case issues. If your running the game un-monitored it might be worth capping the Frames just in-case.

I was just saying update windows as a start, because out of date windows can cause problems. Same with your chipset, and knowing which version of your bios you are running to check the versions and see what the updates for that are and if they cover your problem. It's always best to start with the basics and go from there as you were saying you had a few issues.

Trouble shooting 101, start at the beginning. Like my computer has no picture, first question is, Is the Monitor on? Did you check the plug. Sometimes people don't even know you need to turn it on separately., You would be surprised how often it's one of those two. I figured i could skip that step but still.

at anyrate, glad you got it fixed.
