All the progress that you've made mostly just increase damage or rewards anyways.
110/125 (at least as far as the quest counter goes, there are around 130 champions right now total,) and I started playing late June. Getting champions is "Dark Souls-hard" (as in, not actually hard, just memetically so.)
Edit: Only "hard to get" champions (because they may require thinking and planning,) are a couple of the Evergreen ones, and 100% of those I've unlocked are very, very, very optional and unimpressive. Krux can go wait in his RNG-fueled variant until the heat death of the universe.
