There is a dragon familiar, for 2.50, that i just noticed so thanks for pointing out another round of retiring things.
As for FOMO, that's just life, you can't do/have everything even if you were the richest person in the world. Though i will say it's something I've noticed on the steam forums a lot as of late with a ton of different games so it's obviously an issue for some people. But FOMO is purely external validation, so work on the internal. The classic happiness begins with-in sorta thing. That's my tip of the day anyway. :)
And if it's just for the sake of seeing champions using their skins in-game, Jim can take care of that. It's always disguise party time when Jim's around.
Edit: Credit where credit's due, it's a better buff than "achievements" give.
These "retiring" skins are likely skins that sell less, so instead of getting sold as an item, they're instead offered at a higher price later on - but the "smart customers" are made to believe they're "saving money" by buying them along with other trinkets.
On the contrary, it has been established some years ago that about 10% of players make 90% of ftp game profits by spending a lot while the majority spends little or nothing.
I do, Part of this game to me is the hero. The art is a big part of it. I certainly don't go crazy about them, but I've picked up a few i really liked. They also come with a feat and some chests which is nice especially for newer people as 50k Gems can take a while. The higher cost ones have a lot more but they are bit out of my price range. Still some of them are really nice. The season passes also have a skin for each hero so that can be a cheaper way to get skins if your into them.
You can also get some skins through mission rewards, and Patrons. They also have some random events that you can buy them with the event currency. There are also skin unlocks for gems so even if you don't want to spend any real money you can get some skins but they are a bit more limited.
That's basically every FTP game made and some games it's even lower than that. But the bigger thing to remember is when those 10% stop spending money, the games get shut down. I just don't the folks that complain about how other gamer's spend money, especially when it funds the game they are playing
My gaming budget for the last half of this year was going to have been for divinity OS 1,2 bundle. Instead i found this game hence why i don't have those. I just love turn based games and had been waiting for years to squeeze that bundle into the ol budget and i said this was the year! But then this little gem came along and well a few familiars, a couple passes and skins later, No divinity bundle this year.. but hey i'm having a great time and isn't that why we all play games?
Cheap familiars are more useful, though, unless you have most of the ones that exist. I never seem to have enough.
I mean this game has so many things that the steam listing would be crazy big.
Now compare to games that cost fool's full AAA price and have up to eighty DLCs, like Payday 2, or games that opted to become "freemium" just to lure in all the money-wasters into buying DLCs, like The Sims 4 with its seventy "one cute sofa!" DLCs.
It's like that old saying "the sky is the limit" except Steam's sky is greed-colored.
This games DLC is different from that though, as sims 4, actually changes the game play, were this stuff is enhancing what is already there so it's not a good comparison.
I personally love DLC, i'd rather pay nothing for a game or a few bucks and then add DLC as i go if im enjoying it verse buy a game outright. Like i bought everquest 2, world of war craft, oblivion, fall out 3 and barely got 40 hours out of all combined.. On the flip side i've never bought a DLC that i didn't really enjoy because i'm already loving the game in the first place.
That's not to say every DLC i own i love but that's mainly because i buy older games that often come with everything, and those games end up in the bin like most others. At least i don't feel bad spending 5 bucks on a game that i don't like verse the 50 i paid for the ones i listed above. That's the nice thing about getting older, i listen to hype far less. I know what i like and in the last 10-15 years i haven't bought a game i didn't enjoy, (at least spending more than 20 bucks, i'll still take chances when they are like 5 bucks)
