Spurt Ultimate
Am I the only one that can't get this guy to die? Game speed is moving too fast for his ultimate to complete so he doesn't die but his ultimate goes on cool down leaving him alive and useless. Why doesn't he at least die?

The game has that quickness only on areas you easily pass on, like the one where Hew Maan is still in front/second column, the extra buff is not really needed then as your damage output is already far above the treshold. Spurt work as intented outside of those situations.

Thank you for the answer. The game seems designed around clearing areas quickly. Do you by chance know any other champions I shouldn't invest in because they punish you for going fast?

There is a lot (and more and more recently) of champions that build their buff the longer they stay at an area, the three DPS of three first seasons rely a bit over those kind of mechanics.

In third season, starting later today/tonight, four champions over the five had that type of abilities that become stronger for staying at an area (not necesseraly a long time). They are not useless abilities and they work fine at high areas but they surely won't help you much in gem farming and other speed tasks.

I was more worried about champions like Spurt. I have Freely. The champs have to hit to start stacking debuffs and whatnot. That is fine.

With Spurt his ultimate and buff is built up by a longer and longer cool down. That cool down is wasted and you are out the entire timer simply because you changed areas too fast or used a familiar to keep the ultimate on cool down.

I don't mind building up. I dislike a complete unmitigated waste as punishment for going fast or using familiars. I've seen you on the boards and you are really knowledgeable. Anyone who absolutely punishes you like Spurt that I should avoid or look into avoiding? I don't mind the guys who build up. I just don't want to be punished.

The Spurt's Ultimate mechanic is really particular and the animation very slow. Some other ultimate buffs champion's damage and may have the same kind of issue, but not to that extent (apart overkill & exploits (eg. Calliope)) and are generally quicker anyway. I've seen sometime Xerophon's ultimate being "used" but him not being morphed. But the animation is far quicker so it's a really rarer occurence than Spurt's one.

Simple solution for Spurt: don't start using his ultimate until you're in the "push" part of a run and have swapped out your speed team (what's he doing in your speed team anyway?).

Won't matter if you are in your "push" part when the familiar you have clicking the ultimate goes off at the last or near last quest item. It is Idle Champions. Not "Actively Managed and Perfectly Clicked Cool Down Champions." Setting it and forgetting it is an primary component of idlers.

You seem to be sad that in your case, Spurt doesn't die too often. Wait until you need to do Spurt's Wasp invention quest where it depends on him attacking while he's alive.

I think that quest is going to be my biggest problem this season.

Huh? When he's in spirit form, wa-spiration stacks are gained when an adjacent champion attacks.

I just checked and the counter moves even when he's in spirit form.

Thanks. I missed that bit then. I might need to read again, because I just don't see my counter moving while every other counter did.

It grows very slowly compared to other, I'm only at 227/350 in T1 on it, when every other has advanced by some tiers (or are even finished).

A Widdle + Attack Speed + No familars on field will probably help on it.

Yup everything that can shorten attack speed to around 1s.
