Why does Barrowin's conditional specialization cap out at only half of her static one?
Greater Blessing is a static 400% buff to Blessed Hammer.

Hammer of the Law is an ADDITIVE 20% buff to blessed Hammer per Dwarf/Lawful champion in the formation.

I know that it says per Vigilance stack, but those cap at 10 with only 1 per Dwarf/Lawful Champion. There is no way to increase this. No upgrade. No equipment. No feat. Nothing. Vigilance stacks are just a count of the number of Dwarves/Lawful champions in the formation. Nothing more, and nothing less.

Thus, under perfect conditions of all 10 champions in the party being restricted to Dwarves and/or Lawful champions, it maxes out at only 200%. Half the value of Blessed Hammer which has no restrictions.

I thought that the static and conditional specializations were generally set up such that if you were willing to be more restrictive in your formation, you could raise the conditional specialization above the static one, or if you were unwilling and/or unable to meet the more restrictive requirements, you could just take the static one.

As is, there is absolutely no condition in which Hammer of the Law is a good choice.

Under ideal conditions it only does half of what Greater Blessing always does, and in the worst case it only does 1/20th.

I also don't understand that. It should have been multiplicative (with a slightly higher %) because currently it's a total non-sense to take it over left spec. But anyway, it's not the first time CNE release a totally useless spec or do wrong maths.

Some number with multiplicative buff:
20%, 10 vigilance stacks: 1.2^10-1 = +519% slightly above left spec, so still terrible design
25%, 10 vigilance stacks: 1.25^10-1 = +831% starts to make more sense, but need too much stacks
But, if I was in charge, I'ld have gone up to a 40% multiplicative:
40%, 10 vigilance stacks: 1.4^10-1 = +2793% (strong but not game changing)
...
40%, 5 vigilance stacks: 1.4^5-1 = +438%
40%, 4 vigilance stacks: 1.4^5-1 = +284%
...
So with an interresting balancing point between the two spec around 5 stacks.

I know, old thread, but for anyone else coming across this when refreshing how Barrowin works, I just wanted to note that the difference between 1st and 3rd spec is post-stack vs. pre-stack. The 400% is a flat increase after the Blessed Hammer stacks have been calculated. The 20%×vigilance stacks applies before BH stacks.

E.g., assuming you have 10 champions with the same or lower attack speed (or higher cooldown), so 10 BH stacks:
1st spec, any vigilance: (5^10)×5 ≈ 4.9e7
3rd spec, 1 vigilance: (5+(.2×1))^10 ≈ 1.4e7
3rd spec, 4 vigilance: (5+(.2×4))^10 ≈ 4.3e7
3rd spec, 5 vigilance: (5+(.2×5))^10 ≈ 6e7
3rd spec, 10 vigilance: (5+(.2×10))^10 ≈ 2.8e8
(Formula to compare:
(5^b)*5 > (5+(0.2*v))^b
where b is BH stacks and v is vigilance stacks.)

Note that more vigilance stacks also means Barrowin attacks faster which means more Blessed Hammer stacks, so it might be easier to get 10 BH stacks if you also have 10 vigilance stacks. Gaarawarr recommends 3rd spec for 7+ vigilance as a guide, but do your own calculations to see which fits best for you… or just always go 1st spec as it’s only a difference of e1 even in the best case scenario for 3rd spec.
