Odds for gold event chests

Has anyone ever worked out the odds on getting a gold chest during an event? I've noticed that I seem to get more gold chests for the new champion than the 2 existing. I'm trying to get all champions to FE. Vi is really testing my patience. I'm not sure what my ratio has been since I was opening gold chests as I got them. She needed 5 epics, so far I've only gotten 1, and I think I still need 2 more gold for the next epic. BUT I have 29 silver chests. Where I was able to get Bro. Uriah to 5 epics in no time.

I'd rather not burn so many contracts and gems for Vi. But, I want the extra bit of power form Slow and Steady. Next event is going to kill me. Orisha and Desmond both only have 1 epic each. I doubt I'll be able to push my gem farming enough to have enough contracts to cover 10 epics for both. That's 100 gold chests max. If the ratio of gold chests is like 1:4 to silver chests, that's like 1M+ tokens. AND, that's not even counting epics for the new champion. Unfortunately my Briv is not to 4J yet. Slot 4 is only up to 850ilvl. :(

Any strategies on how to close this gap? I'll have this same situation again come founders day (missing 10 epics). Hopefully I'll be able to get Briv closer to 4J and help more with faster gem farming.

Briv was retired after last year, so you can't get gold chests for him from events anymore. He is eligible for Mirt, Vajra, and Zariel, so he can get gear from those patron chests, too. Otherwise, it's timegates or random shop sales. Maybe *MAYBE* a season will have Planes affiliation for its champion group.

For event chests, I find it random-ish. Some champions I'll average nearly 50/50. Other champions it's closer to 70/30. New champions or old, there's no clear pattern. Uriah was around 60/40, for example. Hewmann is closer to 50/50.

From my experience, average chances are 2 gold chests per 3 silver chests. Real farming results can vary from 1:1 to 1:2, or even worse.

You can mostly ignore Orisha for the time being. Desmond is MUCH more important in restrictive variants.

I feel I'm at the point late-mid game that FE on all champions is where I need to focus. But, ya, I'm going to just give up on Vi for now. She's not even really C rank for me. Better to save and burn contracts on higher tier champions.

I feel for you @Daggot as that is my (only) goal in events, to get those champions FE. Seasons really help and I'm sure planes will come too, we just don't know when :)

For reference, my current farming results for Uriah: 156 silver chests + 124 gold chests (+3 non-random gold chests from his variants). Slightly better than expected, but pretty average in the long run.

Maybe random, maybe not: For some some reason, almost all my worst farming results were obtained when I farmed chests on Sunday afternoon, approximately 1.5 days prior to the end of appropriate events (European time). For this reason, I try to do most of my farming on Saturday, not on Sunday.

Managed to get Vi to half FE. bleh. I'm done. Hopefully by this time next year I'll have 4j Briv and getting more tokens won't be as much of an issue.
