advice on gem farming?

Burning out, so I want to set up my second party as a background gem farm so I have half as much to do.

It's on mad wizard with Toragor and Nayeli, with 2 familars for levelling them. The core resets at 50.

From what I understand, background progression goes at 1 per minute max, so in theory this should clear 1440 levels a day which is good enough. Issue is that the gem drop rate seems low, clearing 40 levels only dropped 28 gems, which is half my estimate at 7 per bag and still concerning lower than the bare minimum of 5 per bag.

Is this because 1: gem drop rate is lower in background parties (per bag), 2: gem drop rate increases the higher area you are, or 3: I just overestimated the gem drop per bag,

The screen that tells you how many gems dropped is unreliable.

If you still have variants to clear, use you background party to clear them. It will take a lot of time to clear them all.

I know, but I started to burn out doing that. So even if it's a tad sub optimal, it's better this way.

From someone who has played over four years, don't bother with gem farming, Save your time, energy and potential. Uninstall the game and walk away.
