CCP may know better but I type what I always type :)

1. Sign out of steam and in again.
2. Restart Game (I am sure you done this)
3. Check your windows updates, sometimes some don't get installed despite it says they are. Go to settings and then to updates.
4. Contact Support (I think its support@codenameentertainment.com?) I'll check it.

Thanks ;)
I will double check the updates, but the rest didnt help (as you wrote, done already).
EDIT: the last left security update, didnt help, so ... :/

Here's an interesting addition. I get this same error when I try to start ICotFR from the Epic launcher but I can run it from Steam with no problems. (Win7, DX11, good drivers, files verified, etc...).

It has recently come to our attention that as part of the startup process on Epic Games Storefront the game requires DirectX11, and this appears to require Windows 10. We will be updating our storefront to reflect this new information and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

And on Steam Storefront the game requires DirectX 10 and Windows 7.
Imagine the confusion you created for new players. :lunar2019scowlingpig:
You confused me at Direct... haha
I swear instalisation of any game used to come with everything you needed in the old days, and they were on floppy disks back then.

The Epic version is x64 and the steam version is x86. I wonder if that causes any problems. It would be nice if it ran on win7 with epic.
Dev should verify the system requirements before post it.

Thanks to all of you.
That will explain why I was able to get it start under the Steam, and not with Epic. Such a shame when there is a promotion on Epic what requires login ... :/

Got the game on Epic, got the same error. Good thing it's for free so I can forget it and never install it again.

Some guy on reddit found the answer.

geraltkennedy is his name.
According to rumors he is a God among men
(I just made up that rumor because i am thankful)

Use the software reshade
You can find it on reshade dot me. It is a software that allows you to adjust the graphic of game you play.

Once installed, select the game you want to reshade.
Find idledragons.exe in epic/idlechampions
Then select the option of direct3d 10/11/12

Then once that is done, you start the idlechampions on epic. You will have an overlay of reshade in the game. Either do the tutorial or skip the tutorial of reshade and it will be gone.

I am disapointed that the idlechampions dev simply gave up on their potential customer on epic.

That's going waaay out of your way to play a game. If I encountered the error (and was a new potential player) I would just walk away.
Anyway, thnx for sharing, this will probably be useful to a select few.

have you ever worked in IT Support? Getting user system specs is usually the norm. You can't take what the user thinks is the problem as a given. I am not defending EPIC but calling them cancer for wanting your specs is dumb. Normal process for situations when something is not running (even if only to confirm the specs are not the problem).

Have you turned it on and off? I thought was the first thing they say haha :)
