But gold chest had side benefits : bounty contracts (= tokens = event chests), epic blacksmith contracts, epic potions & feats, that can't drop in silver. And that make them far better in the long run.
no pity timer (ex. gold chests have a 12.5% chance for a purple and if 10 fail to then its 100% + 12.5% on that one)
Silver and Gold chests can ONLY give shinies to evergreen heros, and when you have them fully shiny you don't get potions of polish for additional ones
But since they only give out evergreen shinies, you're better off spending gems on buying golden chests.
Without making it all advance mathmatics: Golden chests provide you with better long term profit.
Shiny is cool, but blacksmith contracts more important (for me)
I thought I'll get to shiny all evergreens, but opening 800 silvers in a row and getting none shinys tells it' not an option.
I've opened runs of 4000+ chests without a shiny.
Don't be too short sighted, gold chest provide better value also on non-blacksmith.
0.1% on each chest, no matter the quality.
On the side though I guess that means I should be saving every potion of polish until I get my evergreens to full shiny. I've used 4 already... rip. Ah wells the things you learn.
Just like this:

and its post #12.
In fact it is hard to answer that, in the long term, yes you'll take more benefits from hoarding potions, because you'll earn more shinies then. But you also delay benefits on short-mid terms (having less shinies until you reach the evergreen full shinies, matter of months if not years).
And you can't tell what is better because it depends on where you used potion will land, e.g. if some of them land on speed items, you'll then earn chests faster, complete full shiny on evergreen faster & get more blacksmith contracts. But shinies aren't game changing, especially on evergreen that'll have high ilvl anyway & you'ren't so utterly wrong to use them sooner, it's a matter of personal taste.
How does Shiny apply?
I mean, I have item +150% to something, also some item level +20%, 170% total.
Shiny goes only on base 150, or on full 170 and will apply further to a next i.levels i'll get?
So if you have ilvl giving you +20% its 1.5*1.2=1.8
If the item is at 100% base, with 0,4% incrase by level, shiny will be at 150+0,6%./lvl above 1
If the item is at 275% base, with 1,1% increase by level, shiny will be at 412,5+1,65%/lvl above 1
thanks
