When does Jim Darkmagic "Fall off"

Jim has been my damage dealer for my main party since I got him 9 months ago. I heard that he cap's out a lot lower then other damage dealers. He has taken me past level 500 in the basic missions without having maxed out his options but am I going to see his limitations in play soon?

I'm not looking forward to trading him out but id like to know when it's going to have to happen.

I don't know that he does "fall off," not in the sense that Jarlaxle does. I recently completed a variant in the mid 700s with him. If he's getting the job done, enjoy. Currently I believe Zorbu and Ashaara are in competition for the "meta."

He falls off after his first drink. Just like everyone else on the wagon.

Jim is still the goto damage dealer, especially with Ulkoria being added, in Strahd formations.

In formations w/out patrons, I think it is safe to say it is still Zorbu for primary DPS. Although, with more evil characters being added, Torogar has the potential to surpass Zorbu.

Yes, it's quite simpler to get 2 bonds now that the bond abilities got "fixed" and some crucial race heroes in the right spots have been added. Surely top 3 DPS now I would say, even though I am personally too lazy to switch from Zorbu :-)

Yeah. Some people on discord have already crowned her and don't seem to know what to do with Krull anymore. It's a little exaggerated, IMO--in this event I made it to like 845 with Ash and then switched to Zorbu and got another 40ish levels. Since the Krull fix I haven't been able to break 900 anymore.

Asharra over Krull?zorbu depends a ton on if you have the feat for spreading Krulls virus from gold chests.

Because of the recent bugfix/nerft to Krull, and the addition of new champs and fixes to Ash, she is competitive despite not being able to use Krull. I'm seeing an e12 boost on each of her bonds, so if you get 3 of each that's a lot of damage. Not to mention with modron automation and abundant chests a lot of "older" players have well over a thousand ilvls on her and multiple shinies.

Ash is top end, you need high Ilevel and the right supports with good items and levels to get the right kick - Zorb is easier and works quicker, but at a certain point with the right setup Ash can take you higher

Before Krull+Zorb was beating it out, now Krull+Zorb isn't or isn't now at a lower level (even if Krull was as before at a certain point Ash would win but it'd be insane and out of reach to nearly everyone)

I suspect we're talking top end 900 - 1k level pushers who care, and maybe even have the goods to pull this off - I suspect Ash being better is something that applies to less than the top 1 or so percent of the player base

With Ash I can't push past 1004, with Zorbu/Krull I can't push past 1073.

Ash is only better somewhere in the middle (after area 800-850 - but before area 1000 wall)

Since Hew Maan counts as both a human and a kobold for Asharra (and thus can get BOTH bonds), it might be interesting to try using THEM as a dps in some way. Especially in an area where armored enemies and bosses may be common (his middle collumn ability is good for that).

Worth looking into anyway.

not really, if you are going to use Ash, then there is little point in using that champ as support as you are basically giving up Krull.
But do try and let us know how it went

Point is Ash wouldn't lose the bonds bonus for using Hew meaning your not taking away her DPS (and would actually gain an extra stack because they count for both) so its more that they could make a double DPS pair so its more about comparing them against Hitch.
