You are not alone in the sentiment. Even leaderboard competition would turn me away in a hot flash. As soon as personal competition with it's associated perks gets introduced a floodgate of abuse opens up that [often] never gets closed. Not havin' any part of that.
I dont see the issue with having guilds or other forms of multiplayer.
No one is forcing you to join a guild or fight other players, might even be a,,online mode''that you can turn off,so it wouldnt have a impact on your personal experience.
When such features are included, along with them come benefits or rewards for participating, otherwise there would be no incentive to do them in the first place. Even Highrollers annoyed me a little bit due to it's inclusion of relative rank and that rank didn't even have any effect on gameplay.
I don't want to be forced to either join some kind of social organization or miss out on rewards and I don't want to compete with botters, scripters, and hackers.
Thats like using real money to progress faster/easier in singleplayer games,it doesnt bother me that much if other people use it since it has no direct effect on my own experience.
I don't see why it bothers me, either, because I am not a cognitive neuroscientist. Not seeing why it bothers me does not stop it from bothering me.
Not sure how PVP would work in a game like this though.
Then you DO like competition,i guess?
Since you seem to view progressing in that game as a competition between players.
Thats the only reason i can think of,the other one would be,,i dont like pvp,so i dont want anyone else to experience pvp either'',but thats unlikely.
Bit heroes is not a idle clicker at all, already played it before.
This is the same way I feel. Joining clans is always "optional" until they start giving out rewards that you miss out on because you didnt join. Every game is like this.
Also, I feel that if you start rewarding for competitive placement, that means more people will be cheating, and less likely to supoort the game if they can just bot or hack thier way to better gear.
