Strix feat choice

I use Strix as my main dps. I haven't unlocked her second feat slot yet and it's probably not happening really soon. I saw Psylisa's guide give Strix's Water Conservationist (+40% Hygiene buff) 4 stars and the Elementalist (+60% dps) only got 3 stars. If I can only pick one, is the Hygiene buff really the best choice? Wouldn't dps be better to raise the BUD (base ultimate damage)?

All of the feat bonuses are so inconsequential that you should just go with whichever you want. However, in the case of Strix being your main DPS, you probably want to ultimately get both of those feats.

Optimally yes, I'd have all the slots unlocked. The problem is I can only level her to around 1120 or so before I hit my wall (she needs 1345) and I can't get enough gold to keep leveling her. So until I get more favor I won't make enough gold. And until I can do more damage it's slow to get more favor.. So I want to invest smartly!

Focus on the event favor and dump (convert) it into Grand Tour, you should be getting a minimum of 100% increase each time (I usually average 230%+ increase each time I convert). And just keep running Mad Wizard to your soft wall, rinse and repeat. Spend your gems on Gold Chests and use your Blacksmith contracts on Paultin.

Oh, you may want to pop some epic potions at your wall and then level ALL your champions up on that run to where they unlock their second feat. But again, the feats increase things so little, they are just something else to spend gems on for people that are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay deep into the 'end game,' not something to invest in while still progressing through the story lines. But to each their own, have fun.

Hm you are definitely doing something different from me. I usually only get about 140% favor increase from events and 35%-ish from time gates. But my wall is usually 450. Where are you getting to? I had been using contracts on Strix (which is why I was reluctant to change up my main dps). Plus she's got full epics. I can see why Paultin would be good though.

Strix was my DPS before the revamp of Zorbu and I spent all my contracts on her too. Now I realize that the constants in my formation(s) for the foreseeable future will be support slots and not my DPS.

I dump all my Bounties each event and I typically get close to 550 (I only use potions in events) as a wall depending on the formation and enemy type..

The reason for this is that debuffs like Poor Hygiene apply to both base attacks and ultimate attacks. Water Conservationist therefore increases BUD by +40% (by applying to base attack damage), then increases ultimate damage by the same factor, for a total increase in ultimate damage output of +96% (it might be slightly less than this, depending on the way Poor Hygiene is worded, but I can't be bothered to look it up at the moment). If you're relying on ultimates for your primary source of damage (common to do at your wall as it allows you to push further, and Psylisa's guides assume you will be doing this), then Water Conservationist gives you about one and a half times the damage bonus of Elementalist (except against the rare enemies that never enter the debuff range).

otherwise, the purchasable DPS one is only "+30%" (actually only +23%) over the free feat ... like ... really, "shut up and take my money" ... let's think, +23% or 25 GC (min 2 epics if you're still not full epic, every epic gives nearly +100%) or 250 SC ... choice is yours
Poor Hygiene is (for me) the best feat (since I am using Strix everywhere) and her GE for that ability is the only one I am angry at myself I did not pick. When you will truly start playing this game (i.e. when you beat everything and really the only thing to do would be gem farming), you'll understand why debuffs are far more important than buffs :D

and no, I still haven't purchased any feat
