You can also stay to a level where mobs pop quickly, if it's the last challenge you have to do.
I do my FP on Mad Wizard. If I have then Undead/Humanoids challenges, I seek a variant I've done yet that contains them.
Beast/Fey/Fiends are generally done through Mad Wizard free plays.
The Construct challenges are the worst for me, I set a freeplay in Dinner Party when it's a weekly challenge and stay at an area where they pop with a spawn buffing Melf. Silly, they are also in MW, I forgot to switch back when DP variants were done.
Humanoids I get from Exploring Port Nyan(nyan?), in the second map of Annihilation
Reason being, I can set up the gem run to get to the 5000 patron at roughly the same rate as 2x"Kill 5000 xxx". Any overflow I just idle for a bit on a chosen level (38 Mad Wizard for the constructs, btw)
Mad Wizard 22-30 has rapidly-spawning fey. That's my go-to adventure for almost all patron challenges. It's not a good source for humanoids. For those, I go to Exploring Port Nyanzaru. The very first zone is all-humanoid, so I just stay there until I'm done. (Similarly, for undead, I go to Tomb of the Nine Gods.)
Third position of the construct list, oops. /facepalm
Thanks ptor !
Cheers the for the link and the advice. I was trying to find a list like that obviously wasn't typing in the correct phrasing!
Add on question: Are free plays considered the same? So you may "complete" 2 different adventure free plays with a patron but they don't count as a different completion (as I don't see a tick beside them once you do them whilst the variants you do) I guess its because they are free plays and you can do them as long as you like.
You're right, as you can do them as long as you can, there is no sort of completion to do free play. It's also why challenges are about reach area and no complete an adventure. Without patron, you've to do the adventure one time to unlock its variants (it would have been poor design choice to unlocking everything again for patrons, not hard and boring because of favor already earned in normal play). I have to figure a bit what you talked about with ticks, then I remember I have checked the "Hide completed" box.
Oh OK, yeah I don't hide anything. I actually realised that I never even completed the first town in Grand Tour normally (I was rushing to get Azaka, whic I still need to do). So today, I went through them until I hit "you need to do x about of this to do this" message, so I guess I need to do more variants once I've finished the patron challenges.
So much to do in this game haha.
I generally don't like to just sit on a level because then I'm not earning gems. To each his own, though. (Constructs I make an exception for since there's no zone that has enough of them to efficiently earn through normal progression)
