A little math on Briv's Unnatural Haste
I don't know if anybody has previously posted anything related to the relation between areas skipped and Sprint Stacks needed. As I happen to like maths and was doing some calculations regarding this topic, I have thought of sharing this information in case somebody finds it useful in planning how to use Briv.

The number of areas "n" that can be skipped given a certain number of Sprint Stacks "S", for a comsumption ratio of "r" ("r0"= 0.04 and "r1"=0.032 based on specialization chosen) are (LN is the natural log)

n = LN( 50 / S ) / LN(1 - r)

some aproximated figures are:

S
n @ r0
n @ r1
100
17
22
1000
74
93
10000
130
163
100000
187
234

Likewise, the number of Sprint Stacks needed to skip "n" areas follow the formula

S = 50 / (1 - r)^n

n
S @ r0
S @ r1
100
2964
1292
150
22819
6572
200
~175e3
~33.4e3
250
~1.3e6
~1.7e5

This way, if I want to use Briv as an early run accelerator for grinding gems and chests (I usually only go as far as area 250, which at my current skip probability is ~75 skipped areas) I know that having 6572 or more I can use him for two of these runs.

At the same time, when using him for long runs of reaching and trying to push the wall I can estimate at which area is better to include him in the formation. The idea is to reach the max level having been able to skip areas till that point. (e.g. if I have 2964 stacks, I can introduce him around lvl 250 to reach lvl 550 with a skip probability of 1/3). Briv's time saving capability is greater the higher lvl area is skipped.

Don't hesitate to point out any error you spot and I hope you find it useful.

EDIT: formula clarification

Can not really do consecutive speed runs to 250 with Briv as you will need to let him sit for a while to gather stacks again for the next run, which sort of defeats the purpose of speed runs. I think the normal speedsters are more appropriate for speed runs of 250 and Briv is more for getting to your wall quickly and letting him take some hits as you push to the wall.

But the math is good. I've seen 120-140 boards skipped from 0-500 on his sheet (starting with about 10,000 stacks and running out around 130 skips).

I allowed Briv to stay in a formation as it progressed. I noticed he can skip more than just one level, even though (with my current spec and gear) he should only be skipping one level. i have seen him do up to 4 levels in one shot thus far.

they explained that during the announcement, as I recall. By design, the more stacks you have, the further each skip will go. I'll look up the source

Note: if the chance of springing forward surpasses 100%, it is divided by 2 and becomes a 50%+ chance to spring forward 2 areas. Likewise for surpassing 200%, 300%, etc.

100% / 2 -> 50% chance to skip 2 areas
200% / 4 -> 50% chance to skip 3 areas
300% / 6 -> 50% chance to skip 4 areas
If you skip a boss area in this way, the gems, chests, red jewels, etc. from it are collected automatically.

This is about gear boost. I don't have my gear boost high enough to roll the first 100% yet.

EDIT: Currently, my slot 4 gear is a shiny purple lvl 125. This gives a 224.4% boost to haste ability. Looking over to formations buffs...Unnatural haste has a 81.1% chance to skip the next area. So, i am currently 18.9% short of having it roll up to the 50% chance to skip 2 areas.

As someone else pointed out, there is a case for keeping briv at >90% chance of level skip instead of rolling over, as that easily allows skipping the hardest bosses (such as lvl50/100)

I may have been the one who pointed that out. I know I did discuss the possibility of using it to skip the last Valindra battle for Dragonbait. I haven't done it yet, because i still want to try and beat her without using potions or skipping the battle. I have just about come to the conclusion that doing so comes down to a matter of equipment, as I have tried pretty much everything. I have come extremely close to doing it though. I was on Valindra's last respawn and she rolled out a quick succession of fireballs, which was too much to recover from in that brief duration.

hey mehzure. Here is a hint if you havent tried this already. Have every character unlocked and leveled to max for that fight. Cycle in EVERY character to fire thier ultimates as needed. This will help you.

It doesn't work for the way i am attempting to beat Valindra. I am trying to build a party that can survive Valindra's onslaught without excessive intervention on the part of the user.

Obviously, it can be beaten reasonably easily, as many people have already done so. I am just trying to do it in a manner that no one else has managed to do thus far.

Define 'excessive.' I didn't bother with ALL the ults, but I did give time for minsc and catti-brie's ults to come up and used them both before using Krull's. And I think Celeste for her ult and a bunch of tanks for hp.

I have been trying to figure out a party arrangement that can grind their way through Valindra. Basically, a party capable of idling their way through her. I have concluded that is not possible without being uber-well equipped. So, i have relaxed that a bit down to allowing the use of ults during the final respawn.

EDIT: I should note, I have nearly succeeded twice.

Rookie question but I'm trying to use these formulas in Excel and the first one isn't working. I don't believe I'm understanding what the"In" part does and how to get it to work.
I'd appreciate any pointers.
Cheers!

I thought it was for natural log but I haven't really tried to mess with the numbers.

Ah... Thank you. I was being silly and reading it as capital "i" rather than lowercase "l."
