Potion of Polish, Shiny's, and Golden Epics
A few questions about these items.

1) Potion of polish: should I wait until all my heroes have epics to use these? If I make a common item shiny, is it a waste?
2) Are Shinys and Golden Epics the same thing? Once I have everything shiny, will upgrades go to Golden Epic? Or are these event/cash only?
3) Should I wait to use my blacksmithing contracts until all my heroes have epics?

Just at the point where I'm deciding what to do with the stuff I've hoarded.

1. I'll answer the second part of your question. Once an equipment slot has become shiny, it will remain shiny. If you have a common shiny, then you get an uncommon, rare of epic equipment for that slot, it will be upgraded and remain shiny. As for the first part, I am not sure. I will let others advice you. I think potion of polish chooses the character and item randomly.

2. Shinys and Golden Epics are not the same. Golden Epics have greater effects than Shinys. Shinys can be obtained through chests, even silver chests. However, Golden Epics, especially the "golden" part is almost always cash purchases, barring a few events/promotions. Shinys, as far as I know, will not upgrade to Golden Epic through the way you described/asked.

3. Blacksmithing contracts should be saved and used for event champions that you like and find useful. For non-event champions, you can upgrade their equipment level by opening silver chests. Duplicates will raise the equipment level. Since event champions' chests are mostly cash purchases outside their events/time gates/chest codes, you will have limited avenue of leveling event champions' equipment, unless you have unlimited cash to spend. If you have chosen to use blacksmithing contracts for a particular champion, then feel free to use them even if they have no epic equipment. Levels carry over when you upgrade rarity.

1) As wmafie said, the Potion of Polish chooses an item slot from all of your unlocked champions, randomly. If I understand correctly, the only slots that it will 'skip' when choosing randomly are slots where you already have a Shiny or a Golden item. This may factor into your decision if you buy Goldens, or if there are champions you do not currently have unlocked.

The potion actually chooses randomly from all your gear; if you happen to have gear for a champion you haven't unlocked, it's still possible this becomes shiny.

Another note would be that if you upgrade a shiny to a golden you recieve a potion of polish.

wait what? I thought Golden is just another tier of upgrade as in you need to shiny upgrade twice an item, first silver then golden ( as seen by the borders ) ... holy ♥♥♥♥ I wish I knew this before such a scummy tactic....

jesus why is this game so scammy with its monetization.. clicker heroes is better in like everyway compared to this game and doesn't make you spend so much on it and nothing is locked behind cash only purchases...

this changed my view of the game by 180 degrees...

so disappointed

This game don't "make" you spend anything. It is a single player game with all content acessible to people that don't pay a dime for it, it only takes longer to get the comparabable favor. Hell, the only times you can argue that GE's are needed are to break record levels.

If people want to a bit ahead or do some things faster for money, it is their prerrogative, since the game is entirely single player (and for the same reason dev's said that scripting is totally fair), and this don't change your personal experience at all.

1, no need to wait use all you shiny potion when you can.
2, if you have a shiny item, and buy a golden item for the same slot, you will receive a shiny potion and the slot will becomle golden.
3, as for the blacksmithing contract, eventuaally use it on your DPS champions, but i would personnaly store them to unlock the achievment related to leveling a piece of gear to X lvl, vanilla champions benefit more chest, so they potentialy get higher lvl gear and make thing easier, it is up to you to decide.

Iwould complete the answer with the following:

1. It's up to you. Long-game says wait to use them until you get full shiny on all non-event champions. But that's extreme long-game. Short-game says use them for a nice power bump and hope they land on champions that you use and slots that are useful.

2. Shiny items are silver bordered and confer a 50% base bonus value to the item. These can be found in chests. Golden items have a gold border, and confer a 100% base bonus value to the item. Golden items are only offered via cash shop and special promotions. There is currently no upgrade model to go from Shiny to Golden.

3. For blacksmithing contracts, I HIGHLY recommend you use them on event champions only. Similar to 1. above, event champions are much stronger than their standard core champion counterparts. This is mainly because event champions can only be geared up through TimeGates and their respective events. Blacksmithing contracts are the only other option to pile gear levels on them.

As an example, if I compare Birdsong to Makos in terms of buffing power, Birdsong is about gear level 150, and Makos is gear level 700 or so. They're about even in terms of buffing strength. Thus, using contracts on Makos isn't as wise of an investment as using them on Birdsong.

For newcomers, I recommend loading up on event champions. They'll provide a very large boost to power. The chests and gear will come easier than gearing up standard champions simply due to targeted gear vs non-targeted gear. For veterans, I recommend 3-5 event champions in formation. This is because you can't realistically keep up gear levels for lots of event champions, and your standard core champions will outpace them just via regular Silver/Gold chests (as Makos v Birdsong example above). Better to focus on a handful and use your resources to kit out those that are significant to your lineup.

Thanks all for the help. Gives me a lot to think about.

I'm a little disappointed too that you can't go from shiny to golden... but it is what it is. Once you have shiny's for everything, then it's less exciting to open chests from that point on, knowing there is no shiny in your future.

I think a 2nd shiny in the same slot should give a GE. I mean, it's not like shiny's are raining down lol
