I haven't been able to get into the game for a couple of days. It's kind of frustrating.

I play the Game a few weeks an have over 200 hours ( i know its not much if i look at other players but 200h are 200h -.-) but it was all the time work with no problems an now .... two days ago i want start it and then i got the info screen i want to try to install a 64bit version of the game and i cant start it anymore??? WTF. I have a 32bit system and i search long time but cant find any information about that the game have switched from 32 to 64 bit. I was restart steam... the pc... and ich have deinstall/reinstall the Game but when i want start it... the same problem. you want to install a 64bit version bla bla.
Have some one the same problem or can some one help me to play it again with my 32bit or is the only way to switch at 64bit??

i'm currently having the original issue of a unity loading screen/error popup when i start the game, only for it to disappear with nothing happening afterwards. no game screen, no menus, nothing. checked antivirus (AVG), up to date and ignoring my entire steam folder. turned it OFF and the game still doesn't work. un/re-installed the game, didn't work. un/re-installed steam, didn't work. my drivers are up to date. ran in administrator mode and compatibility mode, neither worked. the game still doesn't run. verifying game cache told me all files are there. deleted the exe files then verified, redownloaded them, didn't work

update: for some reason it just started working again. maybe having it uninstalled for a day or two with a few computer restarts helped. not entirely sure, but it works for me again! yay!

Some issue's as described for me. Just all of a sudden started working again. So IDK. Let's hope it lasts.

Same issue here, I only have a tablet to use and have had steam on it for about 14 months. My windows is 32bit and after the update when trying to load the game it tells me I need a 64bit version to play. All other steam games I play still work, and even more the browser version of champions has the latest updates but yet still works on 32bit windows.

Client is back to 32bit. As for "missing notification" about the change - that was probably unplanned change. Some time ago on discord devs were very surprised that steam version is 32bit, since the one they are compiling to locally for internal use (I won't say that it's for tests, since I don't believe in them doing any serious tests, otherwise this game won't be as buggy after every functional update) is 64bit.

On the other hand, you have the steam product card:
OS: Microsoft® Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, or Windows 8 Classic
Processor: 2.33GHz or faster x86-compatible processor, or Intel Atom™ 1.6GHz or faster processor for netbook class devices
Memory: 512 MB RAM
Storage: 120 MB available space
Additional Notes: 120 MB available space
x86 -> it should run on 32bit, but as we saw - not necessarily
memory - nearly 1GiB soon after startup, in 32bit mode you're reaching 3.5GiB over time, in 64bit I saw 6GiB reported (maybe even more?)
storage ... anyone tried clean installation? SteamDB says it's 740.44 MiB

so can you really trust that info? can you expect it to always work on 32bit systems if they will leave this x86-compatible CPU note as is?

Well if verify doesn't work try uninstall reinstall

if that fails, verify your actual steam installation, if that still doesn't work verify your windows

Its also possible your SSD or HDD is on its way out and thats the issue

hello
after several months unable to play the game (unity error) and trying all the recomendations above i decided to quit Unity games now and in the future (the magicians rechearche dont work too)
So i got to windows uninstall and uninstaled unity web palyer 32 and 64 versions got caled out of the PC and later when i returned out of several months Habit double clicked the game icon... and it STARTED!
after all this time reparing/reinstaling/updating the only thing i had to do was desinstaling the f**king unitywebplayer.

My solution : go to %appdata%/LocalLow/Codename Entertainment/ delete the Idle champions folder. Restart the game.

Just yesterday I've also got this problem. I've been running the game overnight on an older computer (32-bit windows Home edition) because of its lower power consumption. No problems whatsoverer... until yesterday, when Steam updated the game and suddenly I can't start it anymore on that other computer. Every single time it says the game requires a 64bit Windows. Tried uninstalling the game, deleting all its data in LocalAppData and steam apps directories, rebooting, etc... nothing helped.
How can I fix this issue and be able to start the game on my old PC again?

You cannot do it. Apparently, the game is 64-bit application now. It was 32-bit application before the update. They decided to reduce the number of game crashes due to horrible memory leaks by removing 3.5 GB memory footprint limit of 32-bit applications.

wow... seriously, this game has such terrible memory management and THAT'S how they decide to deal with the problem - just letting it consume even more RAM?

Absolutely not what I would have expected, but still, thank you for your reply! I wouldn't have figured that out myself, and now I at least know there is no point in trying.
