Golden Luck

This ability increases chances to get a golden chest across all campaigns from any boss chest drop, instead of a silver. Chance of this is 2%.

What I would like to discuss, is if this ability just flat out sucks.... Obviously its better to have it than to not have it in any case even if it does suck. But I want to talk comparitively as a teir 3 blessing, it adds less than a teir 1 blessing. The difference is nearly non existant, even next to the teir 1 blessings. Or as far as I can tell anyhow. What do you all think?

3x as many random gold chests, it is pretty good.

the numeric difference is good on paper, not so in practice... 3 times as good sounds great... but so does ten times as much. In both cases, if your starting value is already abysmal then the increased value to the new value is still likely going to be pretty bad, if not almost no difference.
There is a strong reason why I used the other blessings for comparing for this issue, this lets us decide if the blessing is even worthwhile next to other options.
What I mean by this, is gold chest upgrades are rare enough as it is, that even if that value did get a 3 times increase over its normal value, the gold chests still almost never appear. This means that you get MUCH more out of a tier 1 global 100% damage bonus.

compare that to a teir 2- 25% more favor from event resets and the problem seems even more clear...

now we can compare it to the teir 3 bonus from Torm favor... its 25% more gold from distractions....
which also appears to be rather sucky. But even then, im 100% certain I could get more use out of that then I could with the gold chest upgrades

I would also like to say, that although this is mostly the RNG kicking my butt...
out of 100 silver chests so far, not a single gold chest... easily doing worse than how many gold chests I got before I had the bonus. The bonus really doesn't feel like it does its job.

Been tracking Silver and Gold chest drops for a while now:
4418 Silver
217 Gold
Average 20.9 Silvers per Gold
Usually ~5 Silvers per 1-350 run

now,... the point im trying to make here isnt that you dont get more gold chests, but its few enough that it doesnt make enough difference. 20 silvers per gold is about 5% chance, so we might assume the info from quickmythril is correct
this might mean without golden luck we would normally get 33 silvers per gold. This on paper looks huge. This is what I was trying to say earlier.
In practice tho, your numbers are hugely inflated. Meaning it doesnt tell the story that it takes a LONG ass time before you ever see even a single chest that can be attributed to Golden Luck's bonus.

Between the time it takes, you have already benefited vastly more from every other blessing, so its simply not on par with those other blessings.

Hopefully this clears up my point better, as I was not sure if I was getting it across.

Why it most likely feels like its a crap upgrade is because it probably works like this, you kill the boss and you have x% chance for it to drop a silver and then a x% chance for that silver to become gold. The chance for it to drop a chest on its own is already small and then you also have to be lucky for it to change to gold, i'd rather see it change into becoming more % chance to just drop a chest TBH.

I only have my extremely subjective experience regarding this. Gold box drops went from being quite rare to being slightly less rare. I didn't notice the difference until I started gem farming, which involves going through a lot of bosses, provided a lot of opportunities for a gold box to drop.

I was gem farming before I even got the blessing....
so far not a single gold chest, but before it I got quite a few...
Thats just the RNG being a ♥♥♥♥ tho.

Yes, thats actually exactly what im saying tho. If your chances start as abysmal, then even a bonus that looks huge on paper, like 3 times bonus or something, would actually be rather small and inconsquential. If not just feels slow, it is slow- with or without the blessing. To the point that you have benefited by every other blessing tons more than that 1 gold chest gives you when you finally get it.
Realistically, who relies on gold chest drops to begin with? You just buy them with gems.

Perhaps this isnt even an arguement to make the blessing better, but replace it with something different but more useful.
I mean, the devs obviously wouldnt want to be handing the gold chest drops out much faster anyhow I assume.

Just to be certain, it is definitely an absolute increase of 2%, and not a relative one? Increasing the chance from 1% to 1.02% would make this feel really pointless.

When I play regularly I get a gold chest drop almost every day after golden luck. Based on the number of golden chests I have had drop, golden luck has been worth dozens of gold chests to me by this time, likely more than a hundred by now.

Even one gold chest can give you an epic, and if you don't have all the epics that could easily double your dps across all campaigns. Imagine the damage boost of dozens of gold chests. It is probably the number one most useful blessing long term. I am fairly confident I get more gold chests from golden luck than from +1 gems/boss.

I don't think anyone has brought up the obvious: They don't want you to get a bunch of free gold chests. That's part of their income.

bot farming aside,...

as to the gem increase vs the boss gold chest drops, we first need to take only what the blessing itself gives, not what you normally get + the bonus amount.
As for how it would come out with the numbers, I thought about it and I think the gems would come out slightly worse than the golden luck blessing- so you might be right about that
