If you first looked at the store just now (i.e. after midnight PDT), you will have already missed the daily deal (probably Birdsong for you).
The whole thing is not very well explained in-game. Here's info straight from CNE (Erika) on the reddit:
(I believe she's mistaken and the replacement deal for those who had Birdsong as a timegate deal was Dhadius, he was for me at least.)
RIGHT. Case closed, BEST EVENT EVER GG WP. Make Forgotten Realms Great Again and other memes.
That's why I am a bit disappointed about this event. Yes, great, we get some free stuff, of which familiars and time gate fragments are best items so far. Potion of Polish in one of those event chests would be another good bonus. Other items ... well great, those are free, "never look a gift horse in the mouth" :) It's just that nothing changes. We still have no new targets to reach, good that we have this High Rollers that "forces" us to do 5 runs per day ... at least those, who want.
As for shop, yes it looks nice, but you don't play this game with shop open ;) You visit it if you need, buy what you want, then leave and go back to playing/idling. Shop is especially disappointing to me because I've learned that chest packs bought 2nd time don't offer the same value as those bought 1st time. So when I wanted to increase Birdsongs equipment levels, there was no point in doing so, when 24 points would be missing from this order. I know it's just mine issue here, but seeing this option I got so hyped, then instantly, seeing no item along chest pack ... it ruined everything for me ;) Really up to that point, yes I felt disappointed that there was nothing new to do, but ok, take new familiars and keep playing. But after my wisit in the shop I didn't care about this event anymore.
They can not do everything at once. The anniversary event is about celebrating what has been achieved so far and rewarding those that have supported us all get here. There will be more events and more to do as always. I find it ironic that you say there is nothing new to do. I was at that point 3 months into playing the game. The amount that has been done since then shows me there will always be something more to do. If you can complete the new content faster than it comes out, good on you. I guarentee you that if you stop for 6 months and come back there will be a heap of new content and a heap more content in events you missed.
I for one would not want new content to come out any faster than it currently does. I personally like being able to do all the content as it becomes available. If the content came out too quickly people would complain. It is an idle game and already people complain about an event and a time gate happening at the same time.
Again, I think the developers are doing a great job. Is there room for improvement? Of course.
I am sorry you are feeling disappointed. What would you suggest could of been done differently to avoid this?
About the store? simply sell same stuff for same price? Now it's more like single time offer, yet it was not written anywhere. Guys who haven't bought chests earlier get more than what I would get for same price, because I've decided to support CNE earlier and wanted to buy chest packs again.
You have the option to get the same benefit that others are getting now, you just got the bonus earlier. ;) If you are saying that you don't want to have to support twice, I get that, but the addition focused levels are ahuge benefit in itself. I have been
re-supporting" myself.
A big grip for me for a long time is missing out on golden epics (GE) just because I started after a certain date. At least this helps partially address this (in GE for previous events), it does not address new players getting GE that were realised in weekend events however. I am sure this will also be compensated for in the future.
I personally really like what they have done with the event. I would recommend having a good think about what could be done to help remove that disappointment for you and make the suggestions on how to improve it. I am unsure myself as to what would make this event less disappointing for you. Better to be clear I guess. :)
Enjoy the rest of the celebration. :)
Don't look at it that way, some people didn't even play back then so at the end of the first year newish players are given a (last? who knows) chance to get those golden epics, probably. You already got them so yeah... the game was still in Early Access, some people probably felt like they wanted to wait a bit more before giving money to an Early Access game and the "fault" falls on previous Early Access games that failed miserably. Now, after a year, the devs gave us info about also wanting to leave Early Access and some of those players could change their mind and still support a game they love with devs actually saying that things are going like they should.
You were trustful from the beginning, you should be proud of yourself and proud of the devs you trusted so much since the beginning. I'm not saying this while being ironic I'm 100% serious now... you're one of the guys they should thank with some special feature ingame or something like that once they finally leave Early Access. If they'd ask me if you guys should be rewarded (with just cosmetic but unique stuff) I'd answer them "YES" without a doubt, who wouldnt?
PS: This event is more like a "CNE appreciation week" and I'm perfectly fine with it since they deserve it, I started this thread just to be ironic but yeah, we'll get our new characters/adventures/variants soon so no problem. Even if only some of us actually payed for stuff until now, we've all been getting free new stuff to do/earn month after month.
My budget for this game is 15 to 20 USD and currently it seems the dev wants to sustain the game with the support of more royal palyers. I really want to see a clear message from the dev that shows supporters with lower budget also can enjoy the RPG aspect of the game by grinding.
This event is really more newbies oriented, because:
- they can't buy familiars easily, here they get 1 free (+ 2 buyable with gems, 1 of which is cheaper than the most expensive to time)
- they get at least 1 TG piece - good way to get earlier released champions + a bit of gear for them,
- they get potions/contracts which easily improve their early progress,
- basically store is always newbie oriented (as long, as they have cash), actually last card of the store is not available for most veterans, it's literally empty (just some text about new champs being available soon), same for chest purchases - newbies MAY get more than veteran
Don't get me wrong. I am enjoying this event in my own way ;) Click per day and move forward ;p
Ok, just kidding. Like I wrote somewhere in the beginning, I hoped for some adventures, there were none, ok, grab familiars, continue with free play runs for gems/dice points.
My problem here was the store with chest purchases. You know how you feel when you get hyped about something, then suddenly you learn, that it doesn't meet your expectations :/ That's how it was with Birdsong's chests - I really wanted to update her equipment a bit having in mind I'll get those 24 levels for GE item (because I have it already) and was hoping for goot shiny. I was just 2 clicks from ordering that, but then I've learned that the offer is different from what I've expected and my mood went sooo down, that it affected the way I felt about this anniversary event as a whole. 24h later I am back to normal ;), just a bit smarter, knowing I won't buy any chest pack 2nd time.
P.S.
I've just opened 2nd chest - another TG piece, YAY. Maybe this event will give me "an adventure" in the end (tomorrow it seems - 1 piece from chest + 1 from drop) ;p
Again - TG pieces mean that this event very newbie friendly. Everyone benefits from those, but it's newbies, who can get the most out of TGates.
I am not jusdging the strategy the dev takes, if this is what they need so be it. They are the one who knows the best about their game.
This is not personarl and I hope you understand I like this game as much as you like.
We are talking about the anniversary event btw. I hope you do not reply to this but I know you will.
