Starting Waterdeep detours...
I finally beat Escort to Waterdeep and I started up Waterdeep detours. The problem is Bruenor can't do any damage to kill the monsters and I can't make any money to level him or unlock any companions. How do you get money if you can't kill anything? Do you use a bounty to get some coin?
Please advise.

Click on one of the birds that flies past, or a moving rock in the background. Sometimes you have to restart the first level once or twice before you get going.

I waited for a bird, never saw one. I'll keep an eye out for moving rocks though. Thanks.

Just use a silver chest or contract right when you start.

Or.. just click.. manually. Click-damage the starting creatures and get enough gold for your first Bru upgrade?

The health levels of enemies doesn't magically become lower just because you are clicking instead of watching champions attack so that starting 1 damage click doesn't work much better then letting a geared Bruenor hit them.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, my click damage starts at 1, and the monsters are much greater than 1 at the begining of the mission.

Bru attacks at what? Like. once every 5s
You can click manually like 5 times a second...

Just mash your mouse for 30 seconds or something and you'll have enough gold to upgrade Bru.

perhaps you need better gear for bruenor. what do you have on him right now? I noticed this issue a little when I first got deekin. I had to let bruenor kill one enemy first, then I could afford to swap to deekin and start upgrading click damage.

Deekin requires 10gp to hire. Bru comes in automagically... If you swap Bru for Deekin right out of the gate, you don't have the 10gp to hire deekin with and you end up with an empty formation..

That's a bit of an oversight I think.. And some talk happened about making him free, instead of 10gp.

So he starts at 110 damage. The rats are 2900 hit points. My click damage is 1. So I'm no where near the necessary damage to even kill one rat. Slightly frustrating.

And I used all of my contracts to get through Escort.

Okay. I'll confess, I'm was confused...
I assumed this was the *tutorial* "escort to... thing" quest and you had gotten to Waterdeep and were starting a new adventure there (which probably ends up being the cursed farmer).

Looking up your quest now, I'm seeing it as the bottom one :

Must have completed Cursed Farmer
Must have completed The Mad Wizard
Must have completed Beast Intentions
Must have completed Terror in the Dark
Must have completed Unearthed Evil

At that point I'm like.. 'Uh.. how are you having trouble with this...?" - You *should* have a metric arseload of favour by then.. (note: larger than an imperial buttload).

But yeah, I guess um... gear up your Bru :)
( or as you did - use your contracts.. I wish you luck in the next lot of adventures!)

I have 9.1e^6% for gold finding. But it's worthleses when I can't beat any of the first animals that come at me. haha

No. Beyond the first couple primary missions for Grand Tour, the starting health on enemies is that of what would have been area 10 or 15. Click damage is instantly rendered worthless without a massive influx of gold, which you can't get unless you kill something or click a distraction. For reference: the rats in Detour have just under 3k health to start.

That said, with good enough gear and favor invested into damage boosts, you *CAN* get Bruenor strong enough to kill things in one hit. But you'll need to stall the rats with clicks so that he has enough time to do so.

Soooo... I need to gear him up then? Just keep opening gold chests and hope for the best?
