12 hours offline farming worth about 10 minutes online gold farm what the hell
I had 1.23d gold after closed the game for 12 hours, when reopened welcome back message and had 1.26d gold wooowww after about 10 minutes of online gold farming i have now 1.30d gold.
Seriously system is ♥♥♥♥. Asked many times during twitch if they gonna change it they always keep saying it's under discussion. This is not an offline idle game because if you not playing it actively you progess NEARLY 0!

I never liked this system
It makes useless to keep the game open for hours

maybe because nayeli's "aura of protection" doesn't work offline? i always put my formation 2-3 areas back before going offline

I don't usually pay attention to the info that it pops up when it first loads, but I just loaded in and looked at it and it says I was away for 3 hours 14 minutes and I gained 3.62e21 gold. This put me at 3.69e21 gold so I must have had about 7e19 gold on hand before I last closed the game. Kind of hard to call that "no progress".

Granted, the performance over 3 hours of online time would be a far far different story. Offline time can only calculate based on (I'm assuming) the damage rates, enemy strength, and enemy value that you had at that moment when you were last online (although I think I've usually seen people say that it cares about highest area reached, not what area you'd backtracked back to before closing the game (I don't think going back a few areas is changing anything for you)) while online time may see you frequently progressing forward into leveling up your champions and facing off against more valuable enemies. Offline gains can only function linearly while online gains can see exponential growth.

Offline gold is based on DPS and gold find only, not including DPS and gold find gained from potions.

This is why. Gold from monsters increases about 25% per level, but your Party DPS isn't going up 25% per level.

Gold drops from mobs simply outpaces your DPS gain. Therefore, being online yields more gold.

Stoki's Ki strike, Minsc's Favoured enemy and Regis Ruby Vulnerability are also not factored in for offline gold so all three should probably be switched out before going offline.

Just switch the heroes heatlh potion boost (generally useless) for full gold gain according the formation and its bonuses when the game is off potion. I think it is a win-win situation. The players get rewarded and the game integrity is kept as well.
