Gaarawarr's Guide to Midwinter - Here's some info that I don't include that may assist with your event
Deadwinter Date (1000 token mission)
Deadwinter Date, Blank Formation[imgur.com]
Deadwinter Date, Optimal Formation[imgur.com]
-Strategy: You have 2 less slots, so you'll be dealing a bit less damage. There's still a solid 2 column DPS layout, so it's not really that bad. You only need to clear 75 to finish this one.
Deadwinter Fay (2500 token mission)
Basic Formation, no Regis[imgur.com]
Optimal Formation, No Regis + Event Champs[imgur.com]
-Strategy: This one is pretty straightforward, and the fairy dust shouldn't pose any issue unless you're idling on a stage for a long period of time. It takes a massive 10 stacks to see the debuff, so it really doesn't matter. If you wish to idle, I suggest doing so on a boss stage, as there is no fairy dust.
Deadwinter Pay-back (5000 token mission)
Formation w/Barrowin[imgur.com]
If you lack Barrowin, sub Ty in the same slot.
-Strategy: Use Calliope in the middle of the formation, and level her. You'll need her shielding capabilities.
Keep Nayelli as low level as you can. If you level her too much, she will die constantly. Calliope and other pepople have other priority for your gold. Depending on gear, you will need some babysitting. More gear = less babysitting because Call's shielding will be greater (she has two pieces of gear to boost shields).
If Call's shield > 10% champion life, you are good.

-Votes for Free Celeste Pack are Yes (19 yea to 14 nay)
-To be fair, I'll do (attempt) a 175 run without Celeste as well.
Current Wall: 120
Auril Favor: 3.75e4
Day 3[imgur.com]
-More free play and LOTS of idle time. Probably just 1 hour of play time today, if that. I've spent more time editing posts and uploading images than actually playing today. The majority of today (and probably the next few days) will be idling in the event to gain much needed favor.
-Opened 3 Gold Chests (gems)
Current Wall: 135
Auril Favor: 1.87e5
Day 4[imgur.com]
-Finished Deadwinter Fay
-More Free Play for favor build
Current Wall: 140
Auril Favor: 5.80e5
Day 5[imgur.com]
More favor grinding for the event.
Pretty boring day, lots of idle time.
I did nab a Gold chest for Regis.
I'll also be using some of my contracts to gather more tokens. At this point, that's my major roadblock. If I can clear 175+ in Free Play, I'll have this event down.
On my primary account, I was able to max all champions at a reasonable level with 1e8 favor. So that will be my goal here as well.
Current Wall: 150
Auril Favor: 5.80e5
Day 6[imgur.com]
More favor grinding (oh boy!)
Still lots of idle time, just grinding favor and collecting tokens for the next run.
I opened 2 gold chests today with the gems I've earned from runs. Nothing big in them.
I'm close to beating the 150 wall, just need a few DPS upgrades (ie, more favor). I might get him down tonight. If not, definitely tomorrow. From there, I think everything else is downhill.
LOOK WHO DIED! 150 Devourer is down!

Same stuff, different day.
Lots of idling to try and accumulate more favor.

Day 8[imgur.com]
Almost there! Wall is at 170 now.
Still need a bit more favor to make it smoother, but it's getting much closer.
The run today will be using Makos in Dark Blessing form to eek out as much DPS as possible. Very close now!
Still walled at 170, and not even damaging the boss. Need lots more favor to buy the last few upgrades.
Current Wall: 170
Auril Favor: 6.27e6
Day 9[imgur.com]
More Free Play today to build favor. Need more champion upgrades to push past that 170 wall.

Day 10[imgur.com]
Sigh... Day 10. This is starting to wear on me. Mainly because of the constant crashes and need for babysitting to reset the client if it's crashed. I'm still stuck on 170, but so close to getting that down. Unfortunately, I'll still have the 175 boss to contend with as well. Only a few more days left in the event! e8 favor is out of the question, at this point, as I won't have enough tokens to keep running Free Plays.
Current Wall: 170
Auril Favor: 1.36e7
Day 11[imgur.com]
Today is the day! I feel it! 175 is in my crosshairs!
I'll be using Makos in Blessing for a bit of an extra push, but I think the favor I earned on Day 10 will allow me to buy those critical last upgrades to push on through.
170 is down![imgur.com]
Favor, gear, and Party DPS are in the screenshot for reference!

Day 12[imgur.com]
175 is DOWN!!! I woke up this morning after the idle from Day 10, spent some gold into Celeste for a DPS upgrade, and was able to kill the last boss.
For reference - you'll need to be doing ~7e45 Party DPS, and have earned about 1.5e26 gold on the run. I did this with 1.36e7 favor.
Deadwinter Fay is on my list of to-do things today.
Deadwinter Fay is DOWN! Going to idle on one of the boss levels to gain some additional favor. I have enough tokens for 2 more Free Plays as well as the variant for Deadwinter Payback.
Current Wall: 180
Auril Favor: 1.93e7

Edit: Not having access to Dhadius is another reason to avoid Luck, since Calliope boosts Hitch/Jamila just as well as she boosts Makos.
Personally I think you are insane for giving up access to all of those other Champions - not having them is such a detriment that I very nearly quit the game as quickly as I joined.
You are correct that the bonus grows larger (and becomes much more noticeable) as your gear grows. But basically as soon as you can afford Makos' Ult, Luck is the superior choice.
You don't use Makos as primary DPS, you use him as Support. Optimally, with a swap that does group buffs so you can progress. Then you use Makos at your wall to burn down entire groups of mobs with his Ultimate. Barrowin buffing Ultimates makes it a no-brainer, as well. Two buffs on Makos Ult = things die.
But you don't have Barrowin... I'm not sure why you would recommend a specialization that's use relies on a character you don't have.
Plus I really think you are underestimating just how many extra levels you can get by using Dark Blessing. The buff itself is great (one of the strongest available) but perhaps even more significant is the fact that you don't have to use Makos as a DPS. He is my best geared Champion right now (every equipment slot is filled and he has a purple, a blue, and a green among them) but he still sucks as a primary DPS. Just switching him out from that role alone is enough to get more than 5 extra levels. Not to mention that the rate of progressing through the levels effects things a lot - even before you get to your wall, that money increase isn't going to mean a lot if you would otherwise be 10 levels ahead at that point.
I don't know how often you can get his buff to proc with Barrowin's help as I do not have her, but I do know that without her that buff isn't going to do a thing if he isn't primary DPS.
1.25^10 = 9.3 < 15
The other key thing for Makos is that he has no innate Party Damage% as he levels. This further diminishes his role as a buffer. Tyril, for comparison has something like 3000% All Party Damage just from levels, and that's in addition to his Moonbeam Buff. Ipsos can check my math, but I think Tyril with a 2000% Moonbeam buff is yielding something like a 6e6 group buff in total. Compared to Makos' measly 4000% (with decent gear), it's laughable.
And yes, I know you can use both. But I was just trying to illustrate how miniscule Makos is as a buffer. Makos is for Gold.
Even if it were possible, you are talking about Makos taking a support spot - which means you have your DPS slot/s filled by others. Unless you are doing things very wrongly, those DPS slots a going to be killing a whole lot of people between those 5 min cooldown AOEs; so even then Makos isn't getting very single kill. Plus there is obviously a lot of value in not having to be at your keyboard constantly when you are at your wall - but that value is much less quantifiable.
I was saying it's worth it to always take Luck. Regardless if you are new or not. The math proves it.
And no, your DPS will not be killing a "whole lot things" between Makos' CD. The reason is that a) you are at your wall as you progress, and thus the gold doesn't really matter, and b) the kills by your DPS at your wall largely don't matter due to Makos' Luck scaling. Let's take Jamilah as DPS, for instance.
In the best case, she'll kill 2 mobs every 6 seconds. That means in 5 minutes of CD for Makos (without gear), she'll kill just 100 mobs. Meanwhile, Makos will make at least 800% more gold (without gear) for the 80+ he kills. Your DPS kills one, Makos kills 9 equivalent. And that's WITHOUT gear. When you add in gear, it becomes even clearer.
Barrowin makes it an absolute no-brainer, as it becomes much easier to get a full Ult kill with him. Without Barrowin, you may have to use another Ultimate to weaken them, depends on where you are at in the game.
