How to tell you won the Shiny item lottery

I have wondered about this for a while. I know shiny potions show up when we get them, but didn't know whether silver chests gave potions or just gear upgrades. I still don't know if they give potions, but they do give upgrades :)

Basically, your new shiny is a white/silver item upgrade, visible in the best item screen on a multi-open.

only took me 750 silver chests. Now to save back up to 1k before trying again. wheee.

Grats on the shiny. You only get a potion if you earned a shiny for something already shiny or gold. And no other item is eligible for one from that chest(I think). So all your starting and non event champions would have to be golden/shiny to get a potion from a silver. It also seems to run in streaks I havn't got a shiny in over 4k chests.

I read an old post about how there was a little bit of "grace" given in the RNG algorithm in that, after a certain number of "fails" to get a shiny that you would be given one after "x" number of Gold Chests or something. Is that not true with the current iteration of the game? The post was from about a year ago, so....

i have golden/silver items on all chars and i can assure you that i didnt get potions from any extra shiny in chests bought with gems. Tested that twice , no potions granted if you are fully decked and hit shiny from gem chests.

Yes, that's exactly like Mo43 wrote - there are no potions for shiny over shiny.
You get poiton of polish only when you purchase golden rarity for an item that is already shiny.
There are very few exceptions - free golden epic items (like from recent c-team event) or free potions (again, from events like c-team, maybe next anniversary).

Shiny on shiny is a really poor reward that many people are getting pissed about - you get 5x value of that shiny item you've just unlocked. So if you will get super rare shiny common item that everyone who still did not see even one of them wants so much ... you will get incredible 5 bonus levels to your item. If you want to support them and make a lot of purchases, you quickly become full shiny and suddenly hit the point, where your support hits back with such "great" reward.

P.S.
I had a streak of >5k chests without a shiny. I know someone else with similar luck. There is no pity timer for shinies, so you might never see one if you're that lucky ;)
