Are you a cheater?
Yes, the title is intentionally click bait-y, but considering how much of a train wreck the thread about auto-clicking is getting, I want to try and help.

Look, the real problem here is that nobody wants to be labeled as a cheater. I'm going to pull a bit out of a major discussion from when this blew up in Clicker Heroes/Cookie Clicker and some others (AdCap?). This was back when people were showing off their save files and had to be specific on their progress because it actually was a contest. Diversifying labels made all the difference to everyone by adding proper categories of competition (cept the diehard weirdos) so hopefully this can help also prevent future flair ups.

++Pure/Clean Savefile: No money spent, nothing outside the scope of what is provided in game. (Calculators/Excel sheets that are only resources are A-OK!)
++DonatePay/Pay/Whale Savefile: Donate Pay is pretty much paying the bareminimum to the developer while still getting a bonus, whale is paying a lot, and nobody can agree on what seperates regular/whale other than it's more than DonatePay. (No, you aren't the first for making DP jokes)
++Supplimental/Auto/Enhanced Savefile: Using autoclickers and/or scripts and/or other external injections or programs. All you're doing is automating/speeding things up.
++Cheater/Hacker Save File: Save edits, reg edits, money, autoclickers, scripts, whatever. Anything and everything. These people turned out to be the best because they were the people who argued and whined the least.

So are you a cheater? You better have at least 999 nonillion Divine Favor and all shiny gear or else you aren't cheating well enough.

save files are stored on CNE servers so you wont see any save files per se.

any "cheating" will be in the form of automation. seeing as its an idle game. i dont think its cheating

also there is

1. no pvp
2. no co-op mode
3. no tradable or marketkable ingame items
4. no leaderboard or ladder
5. did i mention no PVP?
6. there is no competition between players except that imagined in the heads of a few nutters.
7. there is no pvp
8. pvp is not an option in this game
9. no pvp

my point is. who cares . many people like myself play these games for reasons that may seem strange to others.

its a single player. almost offline game. as in the server is dribbling some stuff but your client is doing alot of work.

what is fun to you is not fun to me

take for example repetitive clicking. that isnt strategic. its boring and tedious and mouse destroying.

instead planning out a complex scripting tool that analyzes pixels on teh screen and controls keyboard mouse and other things all in harmony and in response to actions in a game / screen. now that is fun for software engineering types looking for a challenge.

is it cheating? only if they agree with you that it is cheating. they can't make any money or prestige from their "cheating" behaviours.

I can't understand how someone could call using autoclicker as cheater. It simply doesn't make sense. There is no in game pvp mechanic so being able to click faster than other player doesn't affect anyone but yourself. An even if there was any advantage over someone it would be a terrible idea to reward a player over other simply because of the fact that he can click faster, that would be a terrible game.

Now if usign an auto-clicker becomes a real problem for the community simple ask the developers to put a limit to the amount of clicks per second based on human capabilities and problem solved. People would still use auto-clickers with no advantage in-game and saving his mouse.

Modify files (saves and game files) is totally out of cuestion cheat.

Have the Devs mentioned their stance or thoughts on auto-clickers? I'd be interested to know if they mind players using programs like that with the game.

I tried one yesterday for a couple of minutes at 2 clicks per second, to see if it was helpful - but my party seem to kill things fast enough as it is - either me clicking myself or a program doing it, doesn't make enough of a difference for me to bother.

Also, I only used it for a couple of minutes because I felt guilty about it - obviously to my mind, it felt like I was cheating - not that I have any problem with other people doing it, it just isn't for me.

Do you feel that how succesful you are in the game is based on how fast you can click? or is it based on any other thing?

*Makes a thread to try and encourage people to focus on having fun and who cares what someone else does if it doesn't impact you.*
*People ignore it and go right back to arguing on their high horses.*
*Completely forgot that I was on the internet.*

It's not really to do with that, it's more that I just felt bad for using one.

I don't feel like clicking is particularly important in this game anyway, at least for my playstyle - like I said, my party does just fine without it.

I hope you don't mean me, I wasn't trying to high-horse. People can play however they like, it's fine - I just didn't enjoy using an auto-clicker myself.

It made ME feel like a cheater, but that's my problem.

Nah, you were fine. I'm just kinda sad that the only thing I did was rekindle a dying fire.

My question is more to help you think where that guilt come from.

I think mainly because I was using an external tool, as opposed to a feature in the game - to gain an advantage, of sorts.

Do you think that having an SSD is an advantage because it loads the game faster so you can play more than someone who use a regular hard drive? Or maybe having a better mouse or a bigger monitor gives you and unfair advantage? An what about using windows 10 over windows 8, is that an advantage too?

What does clicking faster gives you in this game?

And how you define an "advantage" in this game? Are you competing with other players? What is your current "score"? How many of those "points" you have gained with the auto-clicker?

what are you smoking

its for the PVP benefits. auto clicking means you can quickscope your opponents faster.

I'm not sure what you're after here, I said I felt bad for using it and explained why.

The main thing that i{m trying to be after is the "advantage" part. How does clicking faster is an advantage? What those clicks gives you that other players cannot have?

In my opinion fot this particular game paying for gold chests gives you way more advantage over players than fast clicking. There are no objetives or prizes for clicking faster (there are 3 achievements but those are not for click faster, just for clicking). No exclusive areas or campaigns or gear for fast clicking. There are no benefits for clicking fast. Clicks deal next to no damage.

I get that you feel it's not right, but what i[m trying to say is that there is no logical reason behind that because theres no reason to feel you are doing something wrong because there is no advantage for using auto-clickers.

I'm just playing the game without anything edited, bought or running in the background.
