Can we get a Dev answer on local multiplayer

I was quite disappointed the other day when I invited some friends over to play Injustice 2.
I booted up the game went to Multiplayer, then Versus, which specifically says for local multiplayer. Only to discover that while player one has my characters and gear, player 2 has no levels or gear at all.
From looking at the forums I understand this is due to gear being account bound, fine. The problem is on the PC and Steam there's not even an option to select a second account so one person is always going to be at a huge disadvantage.

All I'm really asking for is an update to have at least the PC version automatically use the same account for P2 on Local. I honestly feel it should be an option to select the same account on the console version as well though. Can we get a Dev answer on this please.

You can do tournament mode I believe, that way you'll both be the same level and gear don't affect your stats.

I have never tried so i'm not sure but cant you just activate competitive mode in the options while in character selection?

It is a local game on the same machine/account, there is no excuse that the devs have it this way. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

Has it always been that way? Or did this most recent update bork that for people? I swear I never saw anything on this issue at all until this update came out, and now the main update post is filled with it and now the forum, too!

the console version has this as well, unless player 2 log in with his own account he can't use any customized gear since player 2 works as a guest

Tournament doesn't allow for gear though, only the base and extra skins.

But that way you can play with the same base stats at least, it's not much but at least it's something.

This makes me not want to bust this game out into our family/friend game night rotation. Consoles at least get to sign in on a guest account. PC gets nothing. Tournament mode only adds random gear. Random gear is no alternative to being able to use customized appearances, premium skins and added abilities. It's extremely frustrating. I was fighting on the injustice 2 ship but this makes me want to jump ship to SFV. No communication from devs... Capcom was assaulted with accusations of silence in the past. Now they have changed their ways and opened up communication and has been winning their fans back. Arcade edition rules.

It is, but I would like to use the gear I worked hard to get, or abilities that you can equip. You can't get any of that in tournament mode.

Did not know that. If so, that's awful (planning for eventual local multiplayer couch gaming).

If I'm not mistaken, that's how it works in Injustice 1.

THE BEST ALTERNATIVE IS TO ALLOW THE AI LOADOUT TO BE USED BY PLAYER 2, HONESTLY

I think valve should allow you to login to a secondary steam account for local multiplayer like on consoles.
How about asking Valve about this?
