Their projectile attacks fly slower than character walks shooting, same goes for underground charge. This can be applied to all weapons. Did that with sword too. When you are close to the worm it can't hit you with projectiles = free hits.
I find it fun dual wielding grenade launchers to Ghospet's face in Abandon Road Depth, at least he doesn't move in long distance like the boss in Subway A.
What's more explosion type breaks the shinguard like armor on Ghospet (well, those shinguard armor get strip fast... super fast with those explosions) that forces him to drop down for a good long moment and if you get your Arfsys or other Ai to stun him.... That boss won't even go anywhere. (Possible to force the boss on down state for a long time to the point where you just stand still and grenade him to death if you have best gear with insane max memory chip effect)
Ghospet is another good way to level weapon proficiency (for explosive type weapon, just a bit longer for physical / opt type weapons) except for the sword, I use sword and the sword+gun on Corpse Shifter. This boss is perfect for close combat and it's a small room as long as you are able to survive his AoE stomp (or avoid it before he does it)
For the Sword one, kill spider walkers if you want. (I personally fought corpse shifter with a sword, small room, Boss doesn't move a lot except he can jump and stomp as well as spinning around with his missiles. Spammed Horizontal Square skills like crazy and if the boss refuses to move I just use Star Splash on him (knowing the Stomp doesn't kill you as long as you know you can survive that hit) )
You don't really lose any time doing this either cuz of the annoying delay that exists before you're allowed to use another skill.
And if all of your moves are on cooldown, instead of just doing normal slashes, jump first, then attack normall to do the air combo slam. It does WAY more damage and gets a lot more slashes in much faster.
And you can just warp back to the midpoint again to get everything to respawn.
