These SAO games have any continuity?
Like is one SAO game a direct plot sequel to the previous (including that Accel World bit..)? Do you play these for plot, or gameplay? What about the online mode - is it good? I keep seeing these SAO games and feel half tempted to buy one, but then there's another one, and the player counts don't suggest much interest. But the ratings seem decent. Honestly, I'd expect a game like this to be extremely bad, like hollywood adaptations of anime.

Alright I'm done.

Sword Art Online: RE: Hollow Fragment; then Sword Art Online: Lost Song - to a "sequel that isn't part of the game-verse of SAO", Accel World VS. Sword Art Online: Millennium Twilight; the "canon" sequel of LS: Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization [Deluxe Edition], and at last, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet. I play it for plot, harem, funny & gameplay, 'cause I like the way they did it. Multiplayer... I only played Fatal Bullet's, and so far, I guess I could say it's good, but it could be better. I recommend you, if you like SAO, to give Hollow Realization a try, and if you like it, you'd like RE: Hollow Fragment. About the Lost Song / AW VS. SAO, it's up to you (if you really enjoyed the SAO games) to buy it and give the flight & magic system a try. :Leafa:

basically just follow Hollow Fragment, Lost Song, Hollow Realization and Fatal Bullet in order. maybe look up summaries for Lost Song as it was a bit of a forgettable game, as Hollow Realization and Fatal Bullet are the better games of the lot, but it's pretty straightforward with no awkward spinoffs besides the non-canon Accel World crossover game.

kind of wish these games would handle summarizing previous entries a hell of a lot better, because the continuity changes like with Sinon and Yuuki, and the gameverse cast members being dropped into your lap with little fanfare like they've always been there is pretty damn jarring.

Well some of it isnt going to make sense. The girl that dies in ALO is in GGO as a character. There a characters that are shown ive never seen before which might be from movies idk. Just play to enjoy. Im really like this game so far. Controler didnt work for me on the last one i bought HF? I plan on buying it on the PS store.

Well, first off, the "girl that died in ALO but appears in GGO" (aka, Yuuki), turned out that her virus was somewhat neutralized by the Medicuboid, or that's what is told in Lost Song (and even in Hollow Realization, at the beginning, Asuna asks her if she really can keep playin' VR games, and Yuuki answers that she now can even go to school and stuff [ergo, that's the side-quest of 'em & Strea] so...), and, if you mean about Philia, Rain, Seven, Sumeragi, Strea, Genesis, Premiere, Tia, Kureha, Zeliska, Itsuki, Balzat Joe & the MC of FB (with the ArFA-Sys), are all characters made only for the games, but... Somehow, Zeliska & Kureha got a special cameo in Episode 1 of Alicization, and Itsuki's name appeared in the top-player's list as well. The only characters that are from the "movie" are Yuna & Eiji, and... At last, Sachi is the Hollow version that appears in Hollow Fragment, 'cause she died before the actual gameverse happened.

The thing to note is that the game continuity IS a separate timeline from the main anime / light novels. The characters still exist, as the Alicization anime premiere episode showed with Kureha and Zeliska, but the events that happen in the games simply do not occur in the "canon" timeline. A lot of people say the game timeline, and Kawahara's rewrites of the series in Progressive, are preferable to canon, though.

If i heard it correctly, they already had planned on creating the Alicization based game on their to do list. but they wont released it after season 3 finished airing

Well that's gonna take a hell of an extra year to make, then. But then they probably need it, seeing as the anime is cutting corners in adapting arcs where it can, Fatal Bullet was pretty lacking in content and unpolished, and the Alicization arc is bigger on its own than everything prior in the franchise.

I really don't want to return to having to play Kirito with a model swap, though.

That is definitly one of the biggest advancements in design for this little series. Getting away from model swap into 'you are a side charicter'.:raven:

Well, you know how Alicization goes, Kirito is the most likeable option so far (due the Johnny Black incident), but I'm pretty sure we'd end using our CaC (that'll probably be the same as in Fatal Bullet), we'd probably be playing GGO and, from nowhere and the same way Eugeo and Alice ended in GGO, we will end in Underworld (or even worse, a failure in the Cardinal System like in Hollow Fragment, where poor Sinonon ended up in a death-game when she wanted to use the Medicuboid to treat her PTSD), and I'm pretty sure Eugeo & Alice will either remember the adventures in Hollow Realization & Fatal Bullet, or... Not even a sigle bit of them. Everything'll depend on how they do it.

Also probably depends on the developer. FB was done by DIMPS, who have a hand with this kind of game style already thanks to Dragon Ball Xenoverse. Infinity Moment, Hollow Fragment and Hollow Realization were done by Aquria. Lost Song and the Accel World crossover game were done by Artdink. If you want any hope of continuing a custom character trend, you'd want DIMPS or a different developer to do it, because if Aquria get the license back then you would probably return to a renamable Kirito model swap.

Just don't let Artdink have it again please.
