I'm pretty sure you can gift them stuff and they will use it if its better, I mean it was like that in the previous games. Well your arfa-sys has a menu and you can equip everything the same as the MC, but the other party characters don't.

I'm not sure if gifting will be a thing, as all the text is in Japanese so I don't know what it says :p but all the main party characters hang out in kirito's room and it doesn't look like there is a gift option.

Speaking to agil just gets you the menu to appraise stuff, Lisbeth has two options, one for upgrading items and one for transferring skills and asuna just has an option for crafting clothes, so unless there is a menu button (square in HR) it looks like you can't even chat to them, let alone gift anything.

Nope, people were saying gender is locked after creation but at least you'll have 4 character slots
