If you can burn through his first health bar (make sure to target those horns) a door will open up leading to another room. In that room there is a ramp leading to an elevated platform. Stand atop the platform to lure the boss up, then jump off the (non-ramp) side. When the boss follows you, use the UFG to get back on top of the platform quickly. The boss will have to walk all the way around to the ramp in order to come back up, and you can take shots at him the whole time (if you're lucky he'll get distracted by your squadmates and take even longer). He may still shoot at you, so be ready to dodge or use shield matrix.
When he starts to summon his minions try to take them out first unless the boss is almost dead; I don't think there's a limit to the number he can summon so if you ignore them you'll get overwhelmed.
If you're still having trouble, there are more doors that open as the boss loses health. The next room has pillars you can use for cover and the last one has an elevated platform you can UFG up to that the boss cannot reach aside from his ranged attack.
Lastly, bringing your Afasys set up as a pure healer/support, Asuna, and someone very tanky like Klein or Strea can help keep you on your feet.
For the Abyss Guide in Forgotten Woods, if you pull him south of his spawn he'll get stuck in the gully near the crumbling tower, while you can UFG your way up either the north or south cliff and just shoot him from afar. I don't think his spawned minions can reach you up there either.
Hope this helps! Lots of people seem to be having trouble with these guys.
The Funny thing about this is that i lost to his little Friends after i beat him..
Because of Overweight i was Not fast enough :/
by the way yeah ppl have trouble with them, because they have pretty much no weaknesses, they are super fast, they hit like a truck, they have both melee and ranged attacks, and as if it wasn't enough, their weak spot ( horns) is so tiny...very hard to shoot at it consistantly since they keep moving around really fast.
Also the weakness is the horns on the head left and right not the head itself
I think I only got hit once, which did kill me, but I'd stacked my party full of healers before confronting him, so one of them got me up near instantly with an AED Shot.
I never bothered going into the other rooms. I just kept kiting him around the first room and stopped to kill the alies he called before focusing him again. Unless you plan to keep running, I'd avise doing that, or you might get overwhelmed as he calls more of them.
other then that, hardly any bosses i have problems with :)
annnnnd you went into a boss fight overweight why lol?
But you can get away from that boss by only using roll
