How do you dual wield?

You have to beat something called Kirito or Asuna mode... I have yet to figure out how to start those.

don't you unlock dualwield actually by getting your profiency with pistols to a certain level? Like in Hollow Realization you unlocked dual wield quite early once your sword prof was at a specific level. This is after all the sequel to that game and IIRC Hollow Fragment is the first of the trilogy.

No, in this game they decided that Kirito mode would unlock dual photon saber and Asuna mode would unlock dual pistols.

after the last duel with Bazalt you get an option to dual wield guns and from what i know there is no dual wield for swords but i could be wrong here there is gun/sword tough

And its full dual wield you can dual wield assault rifles/handguns,smgs and some launchers
