***ATTENTION*** THIS GAME IS NOT A MMO
I asked this question yesterday and was verbally assualted by many in this community , instead of being given a simple answer of NO, I was told to (Learn to use search) or (Read the store page) but what these simpletons failed to realize is the store page clearly lists the game as A. OPEN WORLD , Which it is not and B. MMORPG which it clearly is not. Even in my similiar games section on the right of the store page it has champions online, Final Fantsy REALM, REBORN (full blown mmo's) listed as similiar games iv played.

I think the confusion is in part to the games name which is Sword Art ONLINE . From my understanding this game is based on the CARTOON ANIME which shares the same name.

So what is this game you ask, well again, noone really does a good job of explaining but from what i gather its a SINGLEPLAYER quest based/story driven lobby game similiar to Monster Hunter with abundant loot drops. You upgrade said loot drops with materials which are collected in 4 PLAYER CO-OP. The Co-op are instanced party based missions or quests and the bosses drop materials to upgrade weapons that were found in SINGLE PLAYER, again very similiar to monster hunter.

So thats the game, thought i would try to help fellow normies who have no clue what this game is about but dont want to be verbally assualted by a over agressive community.

Thank you, and good day

Don't ever say 'cartoon anime' again, ever.

On store page you have:
Single Player
Online Multiplayer
some more not important tags.

On store page of MMO game (FF XIV I took for example):
Single player
Online Multiplayer
MMO
Some more not important tags.

SAO: FB does not have the MMO tag. SAO:FB does have online multiplayer so that tag is there, but the MMO tag is not there.

Maybe your client magically give you different tags.

Anyway, I copy pasted this info from the store page.

Yup simple research would show there is no MMO tag.

I also never saw the MMORPG tag so op is clearly making that up, pics or it didn't happen.

People are just lazy these days and can't research for themselves.

There is a MMORPG tag but it is in the User-Defined Tags. Which are set by users and not by steam or the developer.

I'm sorry some one was mean to you. People shouldn't do that.

'User-Defined tags' are not real tags and are most often made by trolls.
One should never hold the 'User-defined tags' for real.

Precisely which is why you ignore those and only look at official tags, silly users marking as MMORPG

I totally agree but I was just pointing out where they saw the tag at.

When he put "Cartoon Anime", I won't lie...I got a little flustered there.

Cartoons to me are things like Beaky Buzzard, and Jetsons. >.>

You were assaulted as you put it because you were too stupid to read, it doesn't say massivly multiplayer on it, if it was a MMO it would have that tag or the MMO tag, co-op/multiplayer does not = mmorpg. So its really your own fault.

I think people are just annoyed at how many people think its a mmorpg, when it clearly says on the store page it isin't. You'd get annoyed too if you constantly see the same question asked over and over when if the person asking actually looked at the store page properly they would know the answer.

Also Monster Hunter is not a MMO either. MMO is like ff14/wow etc, with thousands of players online at the same time in the same world/server.

Calling it a cartoon also kinda bugs me as well, as cartoon to me is american garbage like bobs burger's/family guy and other such trash shows. Only thing anime has related to cartoons is that its drawn.

While I don't jump down anyone's throat when they ask questions, I will say that yes, there is a search feature built right into the forum, and yes, people have access to google.

You should try those first, before resorting to making a new thread, I think. 10 seconds of searching would have answered your question. Nobody deserves being yelled at for asking a question, but you could have checked to see if three other people (roughly) had already asked that same question first.

Exactly. Anime is a different animal all together both in story telling and art direction. It does make me cringe when the ignorant call anime cartoons.

CARTOON ANIME
it's a anime cartoonish game, nothing more, with 12yo girls in white panties.

Id like to apoligize to Anime nation i honestly had no idea it was offensive to call anime a cartoon. Perhaps that it why i have recieved so much hostility within the community
