[SOLVED] Warning - Game Does Not Work On Windows 10

I tried playing this game on Windows 10 and it resulted error upon launch which reads:

"ProphetLite.cpp (76): XA2FAIL 0x800401f0"

I also asked two people who use Windows 10 to test it and they had the exact same problem.
One person who tested it on Windows 7 however had no such issue.

Can this game get any update to fix Windows 10 running issue?
It is literally unplayable for the wast majority of users.

That's weird. I played the game on Windows 10 back in 2017 and 2018 and I didn't run into this error at all. I mean, the game was glitch-central but it never failed to launch. Unless something changed overtime in an update, it might be something else causing the failure to launch, what though, I have no idea.

Based on what I concluded with few other people, it seems that a certain Windows 10 update broke the game, and developers never patched. I did contact them however and I hope to get a response.

probably v.2004 update. it broke ff viii remastered too. no fix.

I don't know what's worse. Microsoft with their updates or lazy devs that don't bother patching.

Can also report this does not work currently on Windows 10 - upgraded to a beta build, 20H2 and still the same error

I tried to email developer of PC port a while ago and I got no response.
I hope they see this thread on Steam at least...

you can maybe try running the game in compatability mode, that might fix the game for you.

Compatibility mode was the first thing I tried.
I also tried checking for updates now and my Windows is up to date. The game won't work and I am clearly not alone with the problem. Something happened tjhat made game unplayable on many people's PCs while it worked in the past.

What are your PC specs? NVIDIA GPU or or AMD?
Do you use Windows 10 Pro - regular one or insider preview?

16gb ddr4 ram, gtx 1070 ti, ryzen 7 2700x, and i have win 10 pro. also im assuming you also tried verifying the game files

I remember that when AMD made an update to their GPU drivers (hyperdimension neptunia and psyconaughts) it broke many older games. Have you tried doing a rollback on your GPU drivers back to a time when you were confident it worked?

i googled that error and it seems that it has something to do with audio drivers, try disabling every audio device in your machine aside from im assuming your headphones and ensuring that it is set as your default audio device, or possibly updating the drivers on your audio device.

All that has been tried, nothing works. I have latest drivers for everything, tried switching default audio device, disabling all, nothing works and I am not the only one with this problem. Even if you are able to play the game, a lot of people are not so devs need to do something about it. This is not normal how the game refuses to run for many while all other games do.

go into set launch options and try typing "- nointro" also make sure that you have windows media player installed. also i can understand why you are mad about the game not running, i would be too, but you have to understand that the devs have likely dropped support for this game after it being out for so many years and issues like this that have only appeared recently are probably not going to get an official fix, i know it sucks but the devs had the game working at the time and likley no longer care to fix it.

Exact same problem here after a fresh install of Windows 10 2004. My game works back then 2017-2019. Please help us.
