Song List Scrolling Uncontrollably? Here's Why and How to Fix It
I'm seeing a lot of people baffled by the lists scrolling all over the place, and had to try and help whoever I could from being driven mad by this.

What's the actual problem? Stick drift, like on Nintendo Switch JoyCons. I'm guessing a lot of people don't play games that use the sticks a ton so they never noticed until now (It always drove me nuts that you couldn't use sticks to scroll through songs before). But yeah, your sticks are probably a little gunked up and need cleaned out.

But DON'T WORRY! It's very easy and cheap to solve. Go to any hardware or home & garden store and find Electronic Contact Cleaner. Make sure it says it leaves no residue, and is safe for electronics and plastic. I used CRC QD Contact Cleaner, but WD-40 also makes a good version that might be better suited. If it's not safe for electronics, you could destroy your controller from the inside out!

To clean, take out the batteries, click in the sitck and push it to the side, and give a good spray into the crack. Then move the stick around a ton and click in and out to move the solution around. For safety, feel free to do this in any cardinal direction you find yourself having trouble with. Let the controller dry (5 minutes) and you shouldn't have the problem again for a LONG TIME.

And for the record, yes you can do this exact same thing to save your JoyCons.

Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Sadly this didn't work on my Rift S controllers. Although a good electrical cleaning wouldn't have done any harm anyway :)

This is not the fix for scrolling menus. The game is reading positions from other controllers connected to your system, like HOTAS. In my case, it was my wheel/pedals. My brake causes the menus to scroll uncontrollably.

This is not the fix for the menu. I do not have HOTAS or gamepad attached and it scrolls annoyingly.

I have a sim rig attached! It must be that, I will disconnect it next time I play beat sabre to see if that fixes it.

Uncontrollable scrollng here but my controllers are just 2 days old with a brand new headset. They can't be gunked up. Also the controllers behave as expected in Steam VR lists and in Fallout 4 VR. My issue is definitely just Beatsaber.

I've removed every USB device from my system and checked the trim on my Index sticks. They're fine. I validated all my files. I'm not running any mods. There's a bug here.

Try disabling USB devices & ports one by one in device manager until this stops. This scrolling just can't happen itself, something is definitely sending the input.

The >only< USB device plugged into my PC is the Index itself. Unless it's my keyboard or mouse, which are bone-stock MS things, this doesn't seem device related.

I just pulled the BT dongle after I got into BeatSaber and it still scrolls to the top. 100% not a device doing it.

Edit: Ok it's 100% a device doing it :/ . It took building a Unity project to find it. Dumping every InputDeviceDescription shows vendor 48879: device 1133, which looks to be a SpaceMouse which isn't plugged into this PC anymore. I removed its driver and now the lists work correctly.

Seems like they could white list the actual controllers they care about and save some trouble, but I'm glad it's working.

Rudder pedals cause this issue for me. It's annoying as I'm primarily a simmer and having to continuously disconnect things because Beat Saber's menu code is not up to scratch is a pain in the ass. If they pay me some money and give me the source code, I'd fix it for them :p

You can disable controllers via software. I know it's not optimal, but better than disconnecting them physically every time.

Thanks, for me it was a PS5 dual sense controller. Brand new so definitely no drift but it still kept scrolling down. Maybe it also reads gyro data?
Anyway, solved it by unplugging, which changed audio devices, which forced me to restart beat saber because it wouldn't output to my headset even when overwriting the device in OVR Advanced Settings. HHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
