Oculus Rift S Touch controllers flicker the rotation of the sabers, but position tracking is fine
When I hold my hand steady in Oculus Home, it's steady. But in Beat Saber, the rotation tracking constantly flickers between what it's supposed to be and pointing diagonally upward toward the ceiling. It happens with both sabers. I can move them up, down, left, right, forward, and backward, and the position tracks perfectly, but all the while, the direction the saber is pointing keeps flickering to this one arbitrary rotation for like every other frame.

I'm using a powered USB 3 card on Win10. I've tried it with -vrmode oculus and via SteamVR, and it flickers in both. I've tried rebooting, restarting the Oculus service, and rebooting the Touch controllers.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Looks similar to the issue in this thread .

Thanks, ovtchina. Yes, it's exactly like that except it's only the rotation that flickers, not the position. If it's a USB bandwidth and/or power issue, I'm not sure what I can do about it, though. My USB port setup is:
Motherboard USB ports: mouse, keyboard, Xbox 360 controller
Powered USB PCIe card: Rift S

and if I use the mobo USB port for the Oculus, it doesn't even get past the sensor check.

I'll try unplugging stuff from all the other USB ports and post how it goes.

When that happens you may want to go to Oculus settings to "beta" tab and choose "restart Oculus" - it often resolves that issue without doing anything else and the USB port you tried actually worked.

Thanks, tried that - no joy.

I tried unplugging everything (controller, keyboard, mouse) from all USB ports, and the problem was exactly the same - except this time, the position teleport-flickered a bit as well as the rotation teleport-flickering as usual.

I tried the old "unplug both, wait 10s, plug in USB, wait 10s, plug in DisplayPort" trick - exactly the same teleport-flickering.

I tried it in the other powered USB card slot - exactly the same teleport-flickering.

I tried it in a mobo USB 3.0 slot, and I just get the "..." in VR or a red X saying the USB connection isn't working. I can't even get into VR at all.

I went into Device Manager and selected "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" for all USB devices except my powered USB card and the three "Rift USB Hub" devices. I plugged it into the powered USB card - exactly the same teleport-flickering.

Nothing I do to attempt to save power or bandwidth appears to help.

I noticed a bit of lag-flickering in SteamVR and Space Pirate Trainer as well. It's not exactly the same, and it's nowhere near as bad, but it's worth noting because it means it's not a Beat Saber-specific issue. In SteamVR the position of my left hand and its pointer laser sticks in place for about half a second and doesn't track my movements. In Space Pirate Trainer, my left gun flickers in and out of existence rapidly, like a strobe light.

I'll be honest I've got the same issue except it's flickering horizontally forward and occasionally switches between controllers. I though maybe it's lighting, battery, or even mods but nothing fixed it so far.

TrippyKitten on reddit said, "Newest update caused this problem. We all have it. Just wait for oculus to get off their lazy asses and fix it. Nobody has an individual fix as far as I know. Spend some time outside. Breathe the air. Suck in some corona maybe you'll feel better. Oculus knows of the issue. Now we wait."

I wonder if there's a way to roll back the update...

If you were using the beta branch of Oculus, you can revert to standard non-beta version. I'm using the standard one and didn't notice any problems (Checked it yesterday. Though, maybe not everyone is affected?). Or if you were using the standard one, maybe turning to beta could change something (but if that was that easy someone would have found such a fix already I suppose...)

only happens to me when my pc is lagging and can't keep up with the game, e.g. streaming

SOLUTION: I opted into the Oculus beta (Oculus, Beta tab, opt in to the Public Test Channel). I installed the updates, rebooted, and no more flicker!
