Stepmania importer?
Hey,

I'm a new convert from audioshield - finally bought this game, and while I loved the fact that audioshield could make use of my old stepmania collection, even with mods it just didn't have the same training feel to it where you get a real feel of progress.

Beat Saber already feels to me like a great next-gen beat game much like the good old days of Stepmania. So on to my point - I have a collection of a good number of stepmania songs - somewhere in the 1000ish range, and I am sure others out there have collections they'd love to dust off for play - anyone in the works on a way to read the stepmania songs and convert them for Beat Saber use, or has that not even crossed others minds? If it HASN'T beeen worked on, it'd definitely be a feature I would love to see - the overall work for matching the songs is already done for a lot of the beat accuracy, we'd just need a way to convert it to a more 3-dimensional mapping...

There hasn't been much work on auto mapping I'm afraid, it just wouldn't work very well for this game. Auto generated songs would be horrendous to play.

might want to try making some yourself if you want them that much.

This can't work unless someone makes some sort of algorithm that can makes random (and playable) patterns from stepmania/ddr/itg/etc charts. I have a feeling that this will never happen.

Beat Saber requires hand crafted maps for a good game play, something a piece of code can't provide. Maybe someone trains a neural network for that one day, but don't get your hopes up.

There are Osu! and StepMania converters for Beat Saber, but I would view them more as starting points to map your own songs rather than maps that are going to be a lot of fun.
