While I don't disagree that mods don't help the publisher, how well the publishers are doing have nothing to do with the game being alive at this point.
Maybe if everything they put up wasn't so disappointing compared to the mods...
this is the same logic as people who watch shows for free. most friends i have that play this game both buy dlc and use mods. there are a few dlc i plan to buy soon as well.
YES the mods are great but every now and then you should think about buying a dlc or 2
You're insinuating that the game(show) would go under if people don't buy DLCs?
I highly doubt it. We all already paid for the game and it isn't a live service, I believe we all mostly play single-player anyways.
Why would we pay for mediocre stuff? All dlc songs have a better modded alternative...
Go buy the song online, opt into your favorite modder's patreon...
Don't waste your money on ♥♥♥♥♥♥ DLCs...
YES and with a tv show you either watch commercials or you pay for a monthly subscription to a service. either way its almost never a 1 time payment unless you buy like a CD of a movie. and unlike a game im sure you will never have 55, 100, 500, 1000 hours of view time on it.
As for games unlike most games where ANYONE with a pc can buy it this game needs you to have pc AND a vr kit. so its not like they are going to have sales form 500,000 people. So the idea that you spent upwards of something like 1500-3000$ and you draw the line at a 2$ song to support the game you love is a joke.
[as a note this games all time peek is 42,095 people compare that to a non vr game for the same price. heres 2 examples
Sons of the forest 411,804 all time high
Risk of rain 2 71,033 all time high.
Its ignorant to compare this game to any other normal game. because any normal non vr game will make 2x-100x more off sales due to availability
On top of ALL of this i guarantee without questions that 99% of people don't buy songs from the makers or do anything to support them. IF the option is there [for modded songs] so even THE BETTER option is not going to get supported.
TLTR:
Most people wont support mod makers even if giving the option
VR Games makes less money because 99.9% of people dont own a vr kit
Even though most people spent 1.5k-3k on pc/vr 2$ cost to much for a song.
TV has commercials/ads or a monthly sub but i bet people would cry if steam games had that. Aside from an mmo
No actually, a non live service PC game won't go under because you don't buy DLCs.
It's not a question of opinion.
I admit people who like DLCs shouldn't stop getting them and it's good for those stuck on non-moddable quest VR.
It just sucks for the majority of us who don't care about these crappy DLCs.
Makes me want to crack it even th I own it.
You aren't at the lvl where it matters yet. Keep playing. At some point, you'll 100% see what I'm saying.
And yeah this is more of a rant than anything else, I really wish they'd dial it down or stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the mods every time they add a dlc or update.
I believe the simple way of putting it to solve all parties they need to let us be able to opt our game to previous update like other games does, this will solve our problem. You got hard working people both Dev and Modders working on making this game the best it came be for us. Yes there are DLC but Vanilla there's only so much you can do thats why the Devs gave us the tools to make our own maps and people made some amazing levels you won't experience playing without mods.
had this game no mods it would have had a very short shelf life indeed
you can. There is a guide with all the up to date version codes and instructions in the game's guides section. Its just kind of annoying. Altho, I do agree that they update way too often. Would be better if there was a version you can select that won't update. Since people that don't want the updates probably wont buy the packs anyway.
