Multiplayer - Why do people constantly select songs they cant play?
Every time I play multiplayer there are a few people who insist on picking the same most difficult songs, only to fail out of them 15 seconds later. Its always the 5-6 minute long Exit the Atmosphere type songs - I never pick those songs, but the guy who got a C on $100 bills does despite never having a chance at completing the song. So if you are barely at Expert, why constantly pick the songs that are borderline Expert+ when you know you can't handle them?

Well honestly I don't understand why people in most cases don't pick anything at all and then surprised that they have camellia and fail it :) tried to play official MP several times and it kind of sucks still. Right now server browser and custom songs is the way to go I guess.

My theory is that it could be people who bank on people generally not being able to finish the song and just hoping to last a bit longer than the rest, as that would technically net them a win. A rather curious strategy which doesn't sound all too fun, but that's about the most plausible motivation I can think of

Sometimes playing harder songs helps you get better, even if you fail to finish the map. I noticed this as well in multiplayer but I don't mind it at all even if I finish last. I think of it as a practice opportunity.

Today for example I started playing Expert on the first 2 albums and I was surprised I was able to finish them with some ease (As and Bs, though). I think the practice I had in those crazy multiplayer sessions helped me alot to building some muscle memory for those complex patterns.

Ok - here is a more specific example - literally just happened. Some idiot named Mr.Seb is in Expert multiplayer lobby - picks Exit the Earths Atmosphere... I leave because don't want to play it... join another lobby and 15 seconds later - Mr.Seb joins the new lobby - presumably already failed in the previous game - he immediate chooses Exit again... luckily others had selected Crab Rave... the game starts and Mr.Seb who kept picking Exit is barely able to get through Crab Rave. Why? I get stretching yourself and playing harder songs - but do that in single player - don't continually join lobby after lobby picking the Camilla songs that you are 100% not ready to play when much easier songs are clearly a stretch for these folks. I think they are just trolling honestly.

I have tried multiplayer several times and have yet to find a single person joining in the Steam/PC version of the game. It's always empty. Multiplayer is loaded with people in the Quest 2 version. Whats the deal?

Which difficulty do you join? Easy and Medium are usually less played than higher difficulties. Also try weekends, usually more people are playing.

IDK about multiplayer BUT i pick hard songs and 'lose' them over and over and over for hours as i practice a song.

Ermey - I play mostly expert and there have been others online every time I have tried day or night. Not sure how the other skill levels are - but my guess is you are doing something other than Expert
