Load new songs is also possible.
I still have to test the rest
I've had character from Lord of the rings as my facebook profile for 4 years now, 0 bans.
Are you going to be slowing down updates for non-Oculus platforms and prioritizing development for Oculus?
No, Beat Games will continue to ship content and updates for Beat Saber at the same time across all currently supported platforms.
FIrst, I like how the OP says "I got rid of Oculus because Facebook" and the first like 6 people said "get another Oculus."
Screw Oculus. I saw this fiasco coming. I was an early supporter (DK and DK2) and they broke every promise made to early backers (DK support for 1 year plus but was dropped on launch, unfulfilled promises for free retail set, and more) and as soon as Facebook took over they yeeted every one of those promises out the door just because they could add a couple percent to their bottom line.
Second, $300 for a used OG Vive is a pretty good price. Especially since you can break up the set and make more than you paid for it new. They hold up nice and are very comfortable. More so with the "deluxe" audio strap (like $100 new, so you should be able to find a kit with one on it for only a little more).
It tracks nicely and looks great. I have used the newer Vive at a friend's house, and while it does look better it doesn't look "spend $1000 on a new set" better. I have trouble with tracking on super fast songs, but I think that's because my lighthouse placement sucks (shelves are not optimal). I am about to move the rig to a remodeled room specially built for VR, I expect that to help.
I hope you get what you're looking for without spending an arm and a leg.
The Vive controllers may be weird for most modern games but for Beatsaber they are perfect because of the large handles and have less chance to slip out of your hand.
You won't loose tracking of the controllers even if you are looking in a different location because of the external sensors.
If you like to mod Beatsaber as well and want to add body tracking as well for a virtual character with legs the Vive or Valve index are the best choice because of the lighthouse sensors once again.
The only reason you would not want the Vive is if the lower resolution compared to the new hardware on the market is a problem.
With VR headsets that have all sensors build in have a chance to loose tracking of the controllers when you are just holding the hands in a relaxed position on your sides so I wouldn't recommend the HP Reverb G2, and besides that I heard the controllers of that device eats batteries for breakfast, lunch and every other meal on a normal day. The HP Reverb G2 is not all bad and has the best display for now, but I would only have bought it if I only played games like Flight Simulator, Elite Dangerous or any other simulation game where you sit in a cockpit and using a hotas or steering wheel.
I got the Quest 2 myself and I'm happy with my choice (Even while hating Facebook a bit) because I play all type of games besides Beatsaber and wanted an option to use it for Wireless PCVR without having to pay too much. Sadly there is no VR headset that is perfect for everyone and you need to find the one that is perfect for you.
Ps. For the love of god do not get Vive controllers for Beat Saber. They're huge, clunky, uncomfortable and really heavy. They're maybe the worst controllers for Beat Saber, besides the tracking. To be fair, that only matters if you plan to play a lot of Beat Saber.
If i am lucky i will get one myself this month and i will post my opinion here.
They are also very heavy, which is a huge no no for Beat Saber.
For BS, the smaller and lighter the controllers, the better. Tier list for controllers goes:
1. Quest/Rift S
2. CV1
3. Quest 2
4. Index (with considerable modifications in-game)
5. Vive
6. WMR
(1 and 2 are hotly debated sometimes, some pros swear by the CV1)
This is backed by top players. You will not find any Vive users on the top 200.
The HTC Vive is a great headset all around, especially for its time, but we're talking "only for Beat Saber" here, so...
Probably the easiest and the best way to get into Beat Saber at the moment. The only problem with it is the Facebook account BS, but nothing is stopping you from creating a fake account and going with that. I don't use Facebook at all and it didn't stop me.
If you're strictly looking for the absolute best VR headset for Beat Saber, Quest 2 isn't it.

I have a Quest 2 and Rift CV1; the CV1 is overall better. With that said though, I still use my Quest 2 primarily and with BS (native).
If I had to state the best possible headset, it would be a Rift CV1. As far as I know, it has the lowest possible on-paper (90Hz and HDMI) and reported (15-20ms) latency, along with external tracking. It's apparently still unmatched when it comes to audio as well.
I heard the original Quest also has tracking issues with the controllers at the hip, and with PCVR, it's at a disadvantage due to the latency from the encode/decode process.
HDMI on-paper has lower latency than DisplayPort due to how the signal works. That, along with external sensors would make the CV1 better as well.
But that's not something you need to do in BS, as you're usually playing with your hands a bit forward anyway, so no reason to bring them back to your hips. At least for me, but I learned how to play BS on inside-out headsets so it may be something I learned to adapt to early on.
CV1 is definitely a top tier headset for BS, the numbers don't lie. But it can be tricky to get a perfect tracking setup on it, it's not "plug and play".
