Steam vs Meta store?
Hello. As the title says, I'm about to receive my quest 3 headset and I'm looking to buy this game for my girlfriend primarily but also for myself. I just learned about steam link and it seems like a good idea especially since i prefer using steam for all my games and i can buy the key cheaper.

Are there any downsides to buying vr games on steam vs the meta store? I don't really trust the meta store because it's an oculus only store and who's to say they will be around a few years from now but I'm also concerned about possible performance issues streaming a game from the pc to the headset.

I couldn't find anything conclusive on google so i came here.

Well there's more detail in a pc version but you don't actually need steam link,VD or airlink work fine.

Main difference being if you get the quest store version you can play anywhere.
PC version your stuck having to be near your pc.

Streaming depends a lot on your router, need a decent 5ghz,2.4ghz won't cut it.

Well my internet is kinda slow as it is (UK) but the router is in the living room where we'd probably use the headset since it's spacious enough.

But having to be near the PC is a drawback since i kind of half expected it to work remotely, like using steam on a different platform such as linux or whatever. Instead it seems to be more similar to Chromecast where you just mirror the image from one device to the other.

Thanks for the answer.

Steam version would allow you to have custom levels and mods, idk if you could do that on Meta
