Some questions as a newbie to VR
Really just need someone to provide some assistance with what i would require to play this game and some other VR suggestions.

I have the hardware requirements to play any game so that's not an issue.
What equipment do i need and how much physical space do i need?
Are some VR pieces better than others etc..

If anyone has some pointers with links that would be great.

A lot of factors depend on what you're trying to do. What games do you want to play?

Beat Saber doesn't really require a lot of space. If you've got the money, the Valve Index is a really good headset, although I've never used it myself. The Quest 2 works with PC if you have a good USB-C cable, and it's much cheaper. For room space, Meta recommends a 6.5 by 6.5 feet floor space (at least for games where you need to walk around in your room more than just dodging walls like in Beat Saber)

I think i would like to try Skyrim VR as well. Can you play that with the Quest 2?
Also what do you mean if i have a good USB-C cable? Isn't it wireless

Yes, you can play Skyrim VR on the Quest 2, both on the headset and with it in link mode.
The Oculus Quest 2 has two modes: standalone, and link. When it's standalone, it plays games installed on it, and is wireless. In link mode, it functions like a Rift and plays PCVR games, including Steam games. You can connect it via AirLink (which is wireless, but I've heard mixed opinions about its reliability) and via a USB-C cable, which works really well from my experience.

So in your experience, do you think i should opt for the larger storage size on the Quest 2? I noticed there is a 128 and 256GB option?
I have an RTX 3080 and an 8TB HDD so storage or performance is no issue but i just want the best all round with value for money since i will only likely play it every other day.

Ideally i would have it running off the PC but i think having the cable being attached could cause major issues when moving or turning, am i missing something or is the cable designed to be used while sitting down?

Just get the quest 2 as it does just about everything.

Link, using a cable, depends on you having a decent cable and a good type c port on your pc.

Airlink,wireless,depends on a few thing,not least a decent router.

Standalone, needs nothing else, you can play in a field if wanted.

I use all 3 with my Quest 1&2 and have zero problems.

So where does my actual PC performance come into play?

If the headset is plugged into the PC, then all of the games are running on the computer and therefore don't need to be installed on the headset.
Also, the cable can really be used in any position as long as it's long enough, from my experience.

If the headset is plugged in, then it runs games on your PC like a normal PCVR headset, meaning that all the headset is actually doing is displaying the game, not actually running it.

Ok so i would want to be doing this then, but i know from past experience that using extra length cables can cause delay or issues. If i bought say a 5M long USB to USB-C connection would this work or do you think i need longer? I don't have a huge amount of space but more than enough to stand, take a few steps in each direction and turn around 360 without punching a wall or my monitor

If we're talking about space wise, I would say at least 6.5 x 5 feet, which would be 16 ft of room wise if you do play.

As long as you don't knock anything over, which I had done before a few times which is pretty funny :Emily3_Friend:

I have an almost 5 meter long cable and I haven't had any issues with delay.

Games like Beat Saber or anything that require movement, it's a good idea not to leave yourself in a small corner.

I've done that for 3 years and can say it's really sketchy as in hitting anything around you. It's very possible to use a headset in a small space, but I would say it depends on the Headset you have too. Base stations are going to be tricky to work with, if you're using a Headset with build in sensors, you'll probably have less of an issue. I'm only saying this because I use Full Body tracking with a base station, the small corner did not track very good compared to my new spacious setup.

I have roughly 8 foot long by 5 foot wide space available in my office. My PC is on the desk straight infront of me. Do you think a 5M cable will be enough for games like beat saber and skyrim VR etc?

Seems like the quest 2 is my best option
