Also what do you mean if i have a good USB-C cable? Isn't it wireless
The Oculus Quest 2 has two modes: standalone, and link. When it's standalone, it plays games installed on it, and is wireless. In link mode, it functions like a Rift and plays PCVR games, including Steam games. You can connect it via AirLink (which is wireless, but I've heard mixed opinions about its reliability) and via a USB-C cable, which works really well from my experience.
I have an RTX 3080 and an 8TB HDD so storage or performance is no issue but i just want the best all round with value for money since i will only likely play it every other day.
Ideally i would have it running off the PC but i think having the cable being attached could cause major issues when moving or turning, am i missing something or is the cable designed to be used while sitting down?
Link, using a cable, depends on you having a decent cable and a good type c port on your pc.
Airlink,wireless,depends on a few thing,not least a decent router.
Standalone, needs nothing else, you can play in a field if wanted.
I use all 3 with my Quest 1&2 and have zero problems.
Also, the cable can really be used in any position as long as it's long enough, from my experience.
As long as you don't knock anything over, which I had done before a few times which is pretty funny
I've done that for 3 years and can say it's really sketchy as in hitting anything around you. It's very possible to use a headset in a small space, but I would say it depends on the Headset you have too. Base stations are going to be tricky to work with, if you're using a Headset with build in sensors, you'll probably have less of an issue. I'm only saying this because I use Full Body tracking with a base station, the small corner did not track very good compared to my new spacious setup.
Seems like the quest 2 is my best option
